I’m not sure if I should send SAT score or not. Their website states that a student who spent a year or more in college do not have to submit SAT/ACT score. My SAT score isn’t so high so I might as well not send it. Would this make a significant difference?
I’ve heard Stern’s transfer rate is next to impossible, any thoughts?
@CornellAEMplease They take anywhere from 0-25 external transfers a year. It depends on how many internal transfer applicants there are. I’d only apply to Stern if what you want to study can’t be found in any of the other schools at NYU and you can take a rejection well.
Hi everyone, I’m currently a Sophomore at my university in NY applying to transfer to NYU as a Junior in the school of arts and sciences as a CS major. If you have any advices or tips for me that would be greatly appreciated
Current major: Finance
Highschool GPA: 3.2/4.0
College GPA: 3.5/4.0
ACT: 31
Recommendation: One from a professor at my school who likes me a lot and got me my current job.
EC:
- Self-taught coding in my freshman year and started to run free workshops around the city
- Went to a lot of hackathons (coding competitions), was a finalist at HackPrinceton. The education application I developed was demoed at Columbia and still used today by some professors at my school.
- Started a business in Sophomore year that’s similar to a coding bootcamp
- Lots of work experience and currently work at a company for 1 year as an entry level web developer
- Student partner at Microsoft
Test scores: I wonder if I could submit my ACT, because my ACT is a little above average according to the stats NYU posted. So I thought submitting my ACT would increase my chances.
I have a strong case for the transfer, because I have found my passion in computer science while I’m in my current school, but my current school does not have a computer science program.
Hey guys, I’m currently a student at a top 10 community college in the country
Current GPA: a 3.85 GPA as of now.
Major: Economics
On pace for straight A’s this semester and will end with around a. 3.9 with 32 units.
I suffered an extremely poor high school GPA (2.6) but have gotten my act together this year.
I’m in the Honors program here at the school, and the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.
I have glowing recommendations from two professors, one of which saying “was one of the best students I’ve ever taught”
My EC’s aren’t fantastic, a lot of work experience and volunteer work tutoring kids in need is about it.
How are my chances for NYU? Is my high school GPA going to bite me in the ass? I’m an incredibly motivated student and NYU is my dream
This is the only other thread for fall 2017 I found so I hope that you guys can be of some help in some way! I acc got rejected a month back, so I’m planning to transfer for fall 2018 and I just wanna keep an eye on these and hopefully get a better idea on the kind of people getting accepted till I apply!!!
@Lakeside2 A year or more or having 32 credits excepts you from sending them so if you meet that requirement then don’t send them because I’m more than sure if it did affect your application they would want them regardless of the credits you have in your previous school.
@balshii are you applying to stern or CAS?
Melon Square, how did your application for Tisch go? I applied too as a transfer, but for the drama department.
@melonsquare How did your application to Tisch go? I’m applied too, but for the drama department.
@marmot_sherpa
I haven’t gotten anything besides a request to send in my transcripts since they were lost in the mail.
I received an email today at 2:04pm PST from NYU to check my Albert for admissions decisions, and found out I had gotten in. I am a transfer student from a community college. So it seems that decisions are being released!
Just got accepted! From UC Berkeley. 3.7 ish GPA, studying English/Comparative Literature/German.
We need to respond by May 1, correct? I also applied to Williams, Amherst, and Swarthmore. I won’t hear form them until mid-May, which put me in a strange situation. Does anyone else have this problem?
@SimpleSimulation It says two weeks from when we are accepted on the website. So almost exactly May 1 for us. I was kinda hoping that I hear back later so I wouldn’t have this problem…
@eyl1532 You have the same problem? where else are you waiting to hear from?
@SimpleSimulation Yeah, its may 1 for both michigan and nyu. I’m waiting on a couple of ivies, not too hopeful though.
ughhhh, I am in the same boat as you. I’m waiting for Amherst, Barnard, and Berkeley. I feel like the Amherst and Barnard decisions are going to be cutting it close though, so I might just have to commit to NYU just in case.
@okaycool congrats on NYU. If you accept NYU now and then were accepted to Amherst, would you back out of NYU? Do you know if NYU has the ability to notify the other schools to which you’ve applied that you accepted with them? That’s my fear…I dont want to lose my consideration for Amherst or Williams.
@SimpleSimulation they do not know which other schools you applied to so therefore no, you will not lose consideration from those schools
@okaycool @SimpleSimulation Can you guys tell me which college and major you got accepted to? Is it CAS?
