***Official Oct 2014 SAT Curve and Score Predictions (US ONLY)***

2180 fffffffffffffffffff yes

So I got a 760 in CR, and I noticed 2 wrong from going through the google doc. Did we get a bad curve?

Nah, I’m pretty sure someone got an 800 with at least 1 wrong and 1 omit. I think CR curve is

0 800
-1 800
-2 800
-3 790

2070

CR: 680
M: 680
W: 710, Essay 11

I’ll take it. :)

To add to CR Curve, I got -6 to -8 wrong (no omitted) for a raw score of 720 (probably -6 since it fits better with the rest of the numbers).
The curve is probably something like this:
67 800
66 800
65 800
64 790
63 770
62 750
61 730
60 720
(Taken from May 2008 curve)

Fitting 690 and 760 into the data…
67 800
66 800
65 800
64 790
63 770
62 760
61 740
60 720
59 710?
58 690

Guys I’m in a bit of a pickle. I got 720 cr, 800math, 750 writing. Should I retake? It would be hard to improve that 2270, and my scores do fall in the range of ivy league, standford, etc admissions, but I’ve always heard that a 2300+ is ideal. What do you think? Retake or no?

No… You’re perfectly fine at a 2270 I would die for that score.

My son took the SAT for the first time as a Junior, got
800 math
690 CR
620 writing
10 Essay

He said he took too long developing the essay and had to rush so could probably improve. How hard would it be to improve his CR? I am not too worried about his writing, he wants to study engineering and I think schools will look more at math and CR. I am sure if he takes it a couple more times he can improve the writting.

@momofthree55‌ - what universities is your son interested in? This could make a difference. I think he has great scores and he shouldn’t have a problem.

He is looking at some state schools but would really like to apply to Cornell, Princeton and MIT. I know he needs to raise the other scores to be competitive. He is number 3 in his class and in an advanced program with mainly AP and Honors classes. He has 4 5’s on AP tests, 780 on Biology SAT 2 test, 770 on world history, and good EC’s like Eagle Scout, Marching band positions, and will have 5 years of Latin at graduation. Numerous honor societys, Latin Cartamin team, academic team and math team. His 800 is making him want to push more to improve the other scores and try for Ivys. I will be happy with him in a state school.

^^^Well he sounds very well rounded. He will do well where ever he goes.

My son is in Engineering at Penn State Main. His SAT and ACT scores weren’t as high in math as your son’s. I know the schools that your son wants to apply to is definitely more competitive than PSU, so if he really wants to give it another shot, let him. We wouldn’t even have applied to those schools just B/C we are full pay and most are way more than we would want to pay. MIT would have been my son’s dream school if there was nothing holding him back.

Fortunately my husband is retired military and was able to transfer his GI Bill to our kids so that will help pay most of his costs. I will have him take it again. He can always superscore if he doesn’t get an 800 again in math.

I have a hard time believing we got a lenient curve for CR. I only missed 2 on the entire google doc and I got a 760. I know there’s always 1 or 2 you don’t expect, but 5?

@BassGuitar‌ Same dillema. I missed 2 on the google doc and there were 2 more that were iffy, and I got a 680! How the hell did that happen? I absolutely aced CR on every practice test I took for 3 months and I did a practice section every day and rarely made more than one mistake. Lowest I got was a 750. How I could have missed 8 questions is beyond me. I’m going to order the damn QAS thing. Need to see if it’s college board’s mistake.

If you guys want, pm me and I’ll tell you what answers I put for CR. I think I only got one wrong, so if your answers match mine then it’s likely that it is a scoring error. But getting high scores on practice tests guarantees nothing. I consistently get 800 on math on practice tests and I still got 590 on the real thing.

Edit: Also, the google doc doesn’t mean anything… just because popular consensus says an answer is correct doesn’t mean that it is. If it’s a hard question then most people will get it wrong.

Thing is that these practice tests were real tests from the QAS. A lot of them get posted online. I completed 8 tests from 2011-2013 and did sections each day from 2010-2013. I knew my tendencies well and predicted my other two scores on the spot (which lined up with my practice). It just doesn’t seem likely that I made enough mistakes to get a 680. Maybe a 730 but I would be pleased with that.

First semester junior, went in cold as a practice
Predicted: 600, 680, 580. (Soph year, 188 PSAT, 29 ACT, no prep on either)
Actual: CR 720, M 730, W 710 (essay 9)

I’m pleasantly surprised and won’t retake.

@dhizzy
Exactly the same, I have left 2 questions in the test and just missed 2 in the entire google doc. And I got a 680 ! Am waiting for the score analysis to see if i should order a score verification.

@Hypocrit‌ Did you also notice the pencil bleeding through the page? I have a suspicion that it may have been caused by that.

@dhizzy
I didn’t notice so, but what if we found for example 4 left instead of 2 in the score analysis ? what should we do then ?
