Official Parents Decision List

Cangel, Dizzymom, (did I miss anyone?)
really happy for your families

I am a first time poster :) Long time lurker! I have read many stories on this website and have finally got enough nerve to post! I have a S...great kiddo by the way..fell in love with GWU in April...far from home..but it's what he wanted. Did all of the SAT/ACT stuff...not good scores...great EC's, great leadership, awesome rec's...but SAT's were extremely low for GWU. I worried that he was reaching too far...but had to give it to him...he worked his tail off doing the application, essay, interview...applied EDI. I honestly didn't think that he had a chance. Made it into NHS in November. Over the past week, as I knew that the decision would be coming in soon, I tried to coax him into getting on with other applications (he did send in one other one at the same time at GWU) My heart just ached for him. I KNOW that he has the ability to make it at this school...but to admissions directors? He received an email from GW last week stating that decisions would be emailed this week. I have been a nervous wreck! :) Typical Mom. Then yesterday as I was about to log off my computer, I decided to check my email...and there...it...was...I called to my S to come and open an email from GW...as he ascended the steps he had a grin on his face..."do you think that this is it?" he asked...I stood behind him as he opened the email...that said "CONGRATULATIONS!" You have been accepted! I cried! He had done it! To all of you who are still waiting...I hope that you will receive the "Congratulations" envelope or email. I knew what a great kid he was and now they know too.

Happy story...glad you posted it.

You said: "I knew what a great kid he was and now they know too." and that is a very true sentiment.

I must add that some could say, "I knew what a great kid he/she was and too bad the school could not take all the qualified kids!" Let's hope the kids who did not get in still realize it is not a commentary on whether they are "great" because at highly selective schools, even the great ones can be locked out.

I'm glad GW saw past your son's scores and that his "greatness" shined through. What a happy outcome. I can only imagine this nice "he did it afterall" feeling. Glad he went for it! It paid off!

Congratulations

Susan

jtoups,

Susan,
My daughter got her packet from NYU on Monday. We know they began mailing on Dec 8 or 9 and we are in NC. They claim they mail them out in batches and will continue to do so until all are notified by Jan 1. I hope your friend hears soon! Congrats to the other friends. Maybe if your friend gets a yes from Gallatin we could connect my daughter with her so they could start to meet some friends. (actually with any of the NYU acceptees.)
