It could mean that they have insufficient interview opportunities to hand out to you.

Anyone how limited is this? My parent’s are going through a rough time so I’m only applying to fully need based schools so…

I didn’t even consider an interview.

@Confused92: From what I’ve heard, Pomona tends to be generous in meeting the needs of its accepted students. That said, as an international it’s going to be hard getting accepted as an aid applicant.

Just clicked submit! So nervewracking, but I’m also glad to be done.

Just finishing my supplement… should submit tonight or tomorrow. Yayy!

I just submitted my application! Now for the hard part: waiting.

Confused–don’t get discouraged! My son got all of his tuition and much of his living expenses covered by Pomona. Generous does not begin to describe the package he received. He’s loving the school!

I’m from California. I applied to Pomona a couple days ago. In addition to Pomona I applied to UCLA, UCB, UCSD, UCI, UCD, CMC, Carnegie Mellon, Cornell University, and Boston University. I don’t have a major decided yet but I’m considering Econonomics/International Relations/Government.

I’m from CT. I also applied to BC, Brown, Columbia, Harvard, JHU, Northwestern, Oberlin, Princeton, Stanford, and Wellesley

I’ll probably major in cognitive science or linguistics and minor in Japanese

I’m from SoCal. I want to stay in southern California (because I LOVE IT here). Applied to Pomona (first choice), Scripps (second), UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UCI, and some Cal States. Potential music major with a possible double major in history, French or literature. I’m submitted to Pomona… with four supplements… They took so long to finish…

@ west coast mom: what were your son’s approximate stats, if you don’t mind posting them? (if you don’t want to, I completely understand.)

4 supplements?! Are they all for pomona?

@animalloverkt

I completely understand your point! I love the LA weather too much to trade it in for anywhere else… (okay, maybe the central CA coast or Hawaii.)

I filled out two of Pomona’s extra supps, the visual arts and the athletic, though they do offer science, music, and drama as well. If you really wanted to, and had that range of talent, you could fill out all five perhaps.

Animalloverkt–Test scores or financial info?

west coast mom, you were kind enough to help me on the interview question in another thread, thanks!

regarding the other persons request for your son’s stats…would you be comfortable sharing both academic and financial stats? anything you might share about your son and his admission (and on campus) experience would be so appreciated. thanks!

I might as well join in the thread-ing madness since there’s still so long to wait. I’m from Illinois, and applied to Pomona (1st tie), Pitzer (1st tie), CMC (3rd), Northwestern (4th) and MSU (backup). I visited the Claremonts last spring and let’s just say I really want to go back.

If you care to see stats, I’ve posted about a million “chance me” threads. Yea, kinda overdid it on that one…

Hm, is there any reason why Pitzer > CMC on your list. Not saying there’s anything wrong with that, but I’m just curious as to why.

Really it’s the academic freedom at Pitzer that I like more. It’s kinda tough, because the PPE program at both Pomona and CMC (but not Pitzer) sounds perfect for me, but I also have an interest in taking some classes in astrophysics and religious studies. Pitzer comes off to be a place where you can essentially take any classes you want all through college and call it some major at the end. CMC seems a lot more structured, especially with the “learning to do” attitude. Maybe I’m wrong about that… If you (or anyone) could shed some light on how academically open CMC is, I’d appreciate it.

Also, I’m not a “bro.” Haha

ilmkmom—

Hope this helps…
SAT— 740,750,760
AP —Every AP class our HS offered except art (11 offered total, I believe)-
scored 4s or 5s on all
valedictorian–small class–120 students
National Merit Scholar Finalist
Played three sports JV and V

Financial —We make a little over $100K; 3 children; 1 older in a private school; modest lifestyle (no second house, etc.) but little debt. Pomona is meeting ALL of his tuition and some of his living expense. More generous than we could imagine.

He loves Pomona so much, he is going back early for some workshops. He said he has not met one person there that he did not like. (He is pretty easy going, but I think that shows they are committed to recruiting smart kids who have a life outside of academics.) Pomona has supported him in his adventures (climbing Mt. Whitney, surfing, camping) by allowing him to use a vehicle and reimbursing gas money. Needless to say, he is very happy there!

west coast mom–

wow, you must be so proud! he looks stellar!

your son knocks mine hands down on class rank! and grades. he’s top 15% of the class, and 3.6 UW, 4.1 weighed. hardest classes and all he can get of them. APs, AP scores, SAT scores and extracurricular the same pretty much. i am betting they had they same sort of honors and awards as well. your son’s attitude and perspective sounds so much like my son’s; i would love for my son to go to school with such positive, content people. we’re all tired of the grind of his super overachieving high school; the pressure is so sad.

i guess i just have to hope that an interview will show his personal side, and they would like a male from the south.

on a side note…i cannot even believe that we are this point. college, already. wow.
