[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Editorial positions for several newsletters and other journalistic experience; art/layout for a lot of stuff, art exhibitions, physics learning programs; Team Leader for a nationwide “Ethical Leadership Club”, Prefect of the School; Robotics Club and Nature Club…a lot of random stuff but mostly what I did for all my ECs was the art, journalism and tech work.
[] Job/Work Experience: none
[] Volunteer/Community service: our school required some social service every year, so I did that + worked in a team to raise funds for a village school
[] Summer Activities: We received way too many mangos this season from our plantation so I ended up making mango pies in bulk numbers (yum). Also adopted two rabbits.
[] Essays: About linguistics, editing, and engineering. The Princeton supplement one was horrible in my opinion and I could have made the linguistics (commonapp) one sound less like a ramble (I made it so much better for my RD apps…) so not spectacular. I think the linguistics one was really passionate though and a well-written ramble if anything:P
[] Teacher Recommendation: Awesome

[] Strengths: I tried to show that I loved learning no matter what in my essay(s). And I’m not a “typical” Asian applicant because as much as I love my science, I love language and art and pies too
[] Weaknesses: Two of my essays were like rambles, I realized after I submitted, and I was also able to make them significantly better for RD. Imperfect grades/SAT, no awards.
[li] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m not sure. I’m the first person from my school in a bazillion years to get accepted though! It’s a mystery.[/li]General Comments: Dream come true. I’ve wanted this for forever

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: My essays? Either that or someone was having a great day in the admissions committee.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
General Comments: I posted this in the hope of helping future students get a feel for Princeton admissions. Honestly, I think my essays really showed them who I was. The key is to write about something important to you, which I did, and I think they really took that into account. Spend a lot of time on your essays, as they are very important. I was worried about my scores (b/c they’re a bit low for Princeton on the Asians side), but ultimately, other factors matter too. Make sure you do what you love and do them well. If you can garner awards in your passion, that’s a plus for you. In the end, let go of all doubts (I know that’s hard) and apply. My counselor told me before I applied that I most likely will not get into any of the top schools, but Princeton was really my first choice, so I applied…and got in. Believe in yourself! That’s the most important. I worked very hard to get where I am now, as I’m sure many admitted students did as well. Also, I cannot express the gratitude I have for College Confidential. CC calmed my fears and made me feel better in times of anxiety. It also was a great resource and I believe that it helped me get in. The rumor that the orange tiger appears if you get in is true. I saw that, scrolled down, and saw the orange “Congratulations” and shrieked and ran out to call my mother. I was in utter shock and cried for about an hour. I still can’t believe I was accepted into my dream school. This is really the best Christmas present I could ever hope for! Congratulations to everyone else and best of luck to everyone who got deferred/rejected. I’m sure you’ll get into a college you love.

Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I’m only applying here and to a few UCs that release decisions in March
General Comments:
I’m so excited to go to Princeton! It’s been my favorite school ever since I visited junior year, and now I’m admitted. Congratulations to everyone else who was admitted, good luck in the next round to all those who were deferred, and good luck with your other schools to all who were rejected.

[/ul]General Comments:
I’ve always read these result threads, and its surreal that I’m actually doing one right now. I was in denial for the first 24 hours, but it’s finally starting to sink in. Congratulations to all who were accepted, and a sincere good luck to all those deferred!

I am not comfortable posting my extracurriculars, but I had a clear and specialized passion. Not legacy, athlete, or URM (although captain of two sports team). 3.9 GPA, 2370 SAT (770 Math), and 4 subject tests with 800s and one with 780. (I also had 5 APS with 5s.) I got in, though, because of my teacher recs.
I am so excited to be a TIGER and already enrolled.
