Official Princeton University Fall 2018 transfer thread

Where else did everyone apply?

@psywar Thanks pal! It’s an exciting time for Princeton, I’m certain that transfer class will add a lot to the campus, and hopefully set the stage for future transfer classes :slight_smile:

I’m a nontrad from a community college in Florida doing an internship up here in Princeton. I’m planning to have a concentration in Physics with maybe a certificate in something computational. At my internship, I didn’t realize how much work you can get done if you know a programming language or two, so I really would like to get stronger in that department.

In unrelated news, the weather up here is… unique at this time of the year. Yesterday it was this depressing combination of snow and rain overcast skies. Today all the snow is gone and replaced by a breezy, sunny day.

(I’m new to the northeast region, this is probably common lol)

There is still one item missing off of my checklist, I don’t know if I’m supposed to resend it or if it’s too late for that.

good luck!

@SmartJarhead
I was Army Infantry

it’s probably a small pool of veterans applying but wish all that do the best of luck!

I applied for all the UCs and Georgetown also.

Let’s activate this chat! What is everyone thinking about?

Honestly, I’m thinking about how they read applications, and what they are looking for and how they decide who to accept, and wondering if my application is strong. Hoping that it is!

@Mycatsnameispups Hey, right on! I also applied to all the UC’s and Georgetown, just had the Georgetown interview which went pretty well. Hope to see you at one of these schools!

What are UCs?

@CC12342021
It’s the University of California school system. Includes Irvine, Berkeley, UCLA, etc

Oh thank you.

How many people applied do you future Princetonians think?

All this waiting is terrible. I know only about 12 transfer students are going to get it so it is such a long shot.

I agree. The waiting is agonizing, especially when you want it so badly.

Anyone studying Engineering?

@CC12342021 I think its safe to assume less people applied for transfer to Princeton than other top Ivy’s like Yale or Harvard. Most people probably don’t know Princeton started taking transfers again. So theoretically I’d bet the acceptance rate for this transfer class will be higher than Harvard’s transfer rate.

@CC12342021 It’s hard to say, but I think this first applicant pool will consist mostly of people who generally follow college admissions and did their research, or people who found out by chance(maybe some combination of both). I don;t see there being as many applicants as you’d have at Stanford or Harvard (which can be upwards to 2000!), but the applicant pool will still be just as strong and talented.

@marfrak98 yeah, I’m studying Chemical Engineering, also applied… What are you studying?

@Tree21 I’m studying Mechanical Engineering
