Nothing changed…
Okay thanks for letting me know. Looks like it’s just me. It might have to do with the fact that I was talking to them about applying next year instead since I don’t have an SAT score.
What’s up everyone! I’ve applied to Princeton as a transfer, and like many of you, I am looking to kill time until decision day lol. This thread has eased my nerves, as it is nice to know others are going through it too.
I wanted to keep the thread going by asking what type of involvement at your previous campuses you all have? What type of things on your application do you think will stand out? What extra curricular activities are you all involved in? I hate to ask the generic questions, but I’m genuinely curious. I’ve applied to the Woodrow school to study btw.
Hi @younganddumb18 ! I feel the same way about waiting–it is killing me!! Especially since all lot of other schools are releasing their decisions next week. Does anyone know when Princeton’s official notification date is? And if they will do email or snail mail notifications?
@gtowngirl99 it says on the website that we will hear back mid May, but an article confirming the incoming class said we will find out early may. Not too much distinction there, but could be first week May, could be second. I think it will be a notification via the portal.
@younganddumb18 Thank you! I much prefer the immediate gratification of the portal than having to wait for a letter to arrive in the mail.
Any news? Updates? How’s everyone feeling about their chances?
I’m freakin’ out tbh. You guys know when decisions are gonna be out???
I just wish we had a hard decision date, but it seems like schools that even have robust transfer programs have pushed their stuff back.
Maybe this week! Columbia is releasing decisions on Friday, so I’m hoping that other Ivies are releasing this week as well. For some reason, I have a feeling it will at least be before May 15th.
Has anyone been accepted anywhere else/where else did you apply?
I applied to:
Pitt–accepted
William & Mary–accepted
Fordham–accepted
Bucknell–waiting to hear
Layfayette–rejected
Georgetown–waiting to hear
Columbia–waiting to hear
Princeton
I applied to 3 total, Harvard, Columbia and Princeton. Didn’t have much money for apps and chose to aim high.
I’m genuinely excited for all, but especially Princeton. Since they are looking to enroll a specific class of transfers, it makes the process seem a little more genuine.
If i get in i want to join the debate team, and continue to play sports. Hoping to make the rowing team. Anyone else looking forward to specific extra curricular activities at Princeton?
Side note: it’ll be interesting to visit this post once decisions have come out. There have only been a few number of individuals that have confirmed theyve applied, but this thread has gotten a lot of views. Excited to see if any of us get in
@younganddumb18 what school are u currently attending?
I’m really excited for Princeton’s first transfer class (I’m calling it first for all intents and purposes). A lot of scientists at the lab I just interned at were familiar with Princeton’s admissions, and they were surprised themselves when I told them about the new transfer class. They’ll probably accept around 15-20 and expect 12 to enroll, I can’t even imagine the type of student they’re looking for :)) All I know is that they’ll be untraditionally extraordinary (i.e. outstanding in far more than just academics)
I’m really hoping that at least one admitted student will be one of my Jack Kent Cooke cousins <3 A lot of them applied with me, and the JKC has been pretty tight with Princeton lately lol
Any other military veterans waiting here?
@FutureIbanker/hfmanager i currently attend a community college in Berkeley, Ca. Wbu?
@AGoodFloridian are you feeling good about your chances?
@AFvet323 You’ll find actually a lot of veterans on this thread if you go back a bit in the pages a bit. I’m really glad that many academically qualified veterans have discovered this new transfer class (especially its focus on nontrads like veterans).
@younganddumb18 hahahahah, no. Anyone would be silly to consider their chances good- but I agree that optimism can help sometimes. I did my best on the application and already have one acceptance in my pocket so I’m at peace with whatever comes my way.
@agoodfloridian Idk, that one is debatable. The fact that many are not aware of Princeton’s transfer class opening up this year, is a plus. Those that have heard might be shooting their shot from other 4 year universities, simply looking to move up- which cancels them out.
I don’t think anyone is truly taking a shot in the dark. I feel good about my chances, and would not consider myself silly at all. I’m guessing they are seeing a few hundred apps, maybe 1,000-1,500 tops. I like those odds.
I just want to check back into this thread and see at least one or two people say “accepted!!!”
It’s nice communicating with others who are also taking a leap. Shout out to @Tree21 for creating this thread.
@younganddumb18 A little optimism won’t do you any harm, so you’re on the right track. It’s fine that you’re a qualified applicant, and on that basis everyone one this thread would have “good chances”. At this league, we are taking shots in the dark, and there isn’t anything wrong with that because we know what we’re getting into.
As long as your good feelings don’t convert into disappointment in the scenario that is most likely, then you should definitely feel as confident about your chances as possible! I’ve been through this process three times already, it can be disillusioning.
My optimism lies in the hope that they will fill their class with incredible students who would otherwise not have had a chance of getting into a university like Princeton- not any further.
@younganddumb18 It does seem that the opening of transfer admissions is the best-kept secret among the transfer community this year–when I visited in early 2017, the admissions officer said that they weren’t looking to accept transfers until 2019, so this was a welcome surprise! Like you, I am hoping that most 4 year transfers are going to be weeded out, or at least those from top schools. I believe the press release implied that they were looking more for community college students, veterans, and other non-traditional students.
I just keep reminding myself that it is unprecedented, so what the committee is looking for is completely unknown. But that’s also a good thing–because we have no one to compare ourselves to from previous years to question our own qualifications
