Any news anyone? Nothing for my son.

Nothing for my daughter either. It will probably be april 1st. At this point we are thinking waitlist or rejection. she was deferred from early action.

my status just got changed to accepted!!! im hoping for the best with everyone else!

the waiting is redic!!!

still no decision but now there is a financial aid tab at the top

just received the acceptance packet in the mail !!!

Congrats…

I got nothing in the mail but my status checker said “wait list”

is being waitlisted an entirely different thing than admission for spring 2015 or is it the same thing?

different- you will be offered a spot if one opens up- Spring admit you are now accepted to the Spring term BUT if space opens up for Fall they will notify you

the question is WHO gets called for the fall waitlist first Spring admits or wait listed applicants

@Doberlady. The real question on the pecking order is

Binghamton advantage
Waitlist - spring admission
Waitlist

What is the order? If you are in the 2nd or 3rd group than you most likely have little to no chance. In reading info from last year they did not admit many from the waitlist. I am not even sure if Bing adv is in the mix but since they already have housing they may be first, or since they are technically admitted they could be last. They have too many flavors of admission. IMO it is too mcuh for a teenager to deal with. Many will treat any of these as a rejection without the stigma of a true rejection.

we do not view Spring admit as a rejection BUT it is a PITA

trying to justify paying Purdue 30K over Geneseo which would be $13.5

I agree it is a PITA. My comment about treating as a rejection are for those who do not want to deal with a PITA or the unknown. Many are tierd of the whole process and just want to make a decison and get excited about where they will go. To those who want closure on the process, it is a rejection, unless the waitlist school is much better than their 2nd option.

I for one want closure asap I can hardly take anymore and my kid is so stressed out The Spring offer stinks Where would she go for fall while everyone she knows is headed somewhere

And not to mention the difficulty of entering a school where everyone has already made friends. That could lead to major dissatisfaction.

I am reading everyones comments above about Spring Admission. My son was offered Spring Admission and we are trying to figure out what to do. Binghamton is a great school and I hate for him to pass up the offer. The letter he received does say there is an Orientation in the spring for the spring admits and they will then be offered housing. Does anyone know if all the spring admits that come in together get put in the same housing or are they mixed in with kids that already started in the fall? The orientation will give the spring admits a chance to meet eachother which is nice. My son would do the first semester at a local community college which will be a nice savings for us for the first semester. Also a plus is on move in day in the Spring it will not be as hectic as coming in the fall. So there are alot or pros and cons of this. The only problem now is that it was hard enough with him making a decision with only two schools in the mix, now Binghamton is giving him a third choice. He is going to school for film /media .The other two schools he is considering are University of Rhode Island and University at Buffalo. My other son goes to University at Buffalo and loves it. Would love to hear more thoughts on the pros and cons of starting in Spring! Thanks.

My daughter was also offered spring acceptance and said no thank you. Someone told me she heard that the large number of these offers was because of delays in completion of the reconstructed dorms that were supposed to be finished for the fall semester. But I have no idea if that is true.

@oldmom4896 That is false. I am a student here at Binghamton now and there’s no delays on dorms. They are all completed and have been all year.
