Stolen from the Stanford forum =) Take out the spaces. It's funny to see very intelligent people in here who don't know how to format a post ^^;

I really wish that they would. I like everyone else, hate waiting for something like this. Especially when I know they probably have all our apps finished.

Apparently Cornell and UPenn are sending them out a little earlier than people thought so I suppose that it is possible Rice will too but I'm not going to get my hopes up.
Edit: I don't understand why they have deadlines like this, just make it rolling... If they have finished reviewing an application why not just send the decision out? I don't see how it benefits anyone by sending them all out together...

you're right. it doesnt benefit anyone to just release the decisions all at once. if you get accepted, it's a huge weight off your shoulders and if you get denied, at least it gives you more time to work on other applications.

^^^how does your counselor know? I highly doubt and I think we should all stick to Monday unless concrete evidence arises. Sorry, I'm just a skeptic. I'd rather not get my hopes up and then be disappointed. Hopefully, like others have said, they will follow suit of other top universities and release decisions early.

No one knows for sure. The deadline for them to release decisions is Monday. There is no time specified. It IS possible that they will be released before Monday, but again, only the admissions committee currently knows this.

When I was there last week. I asked the lady and that is what she told me. Now whether or not that has changed, I cannot tell you. And besides, if it does come sooner, you'll just be surprised rather than expecting it to come sooner and then being disappointed. I'm just going to go off what the lady told me (although, they havent always been reliable for me in the past.)

When my s applied ED in 2003, the 15th was also on a Monday, but the results were available after 5 on the Friday before the 15th (the 12th). He got an email that said "the status of your application has changed" at 5 pm Houston time and he logged in. Happy times!! I remember it like it was yesterday, and he has already graduated from Rice (last spring) and is employed!! Good luck everyone!
