OFFICIAL Rutgers FALL 2012 Transfer

Okay so I just finally received my cumulative GPA for the semester. I received a 3.34 with 21 completed credits (I will have 36 after the spring) from Rowan University. Since I will not have 24 credits by the time the application is reviewed, I understand that my high school grades will be looked at. I had a 2.6 GPA and a 1950 in SATs (pretty sure they dont look at SAT after 12 completed credits) in high school because I basically did not care about school. Will the grade trend from a 2.6 to a 3.34 help my decision in getting in? This is for SAS btw. Thanks!

i wouldn’t count on it. if you look at past transfer threads, people have said that their high school GPA and test scores were carefully examined if they had less than 24 credits earned. i don’t think 12 credits is the cutoff anymore.

Haha wait so are you saying you wouldn’t count on me getting into SAS?

no, i’m just saying i wouldn’t count on your college GPA to help you. they’re definitely going to weigh your HS stats.

Hey guys, so this will be my 2nd time applying to Rutgers NB (I applied last year as a freshman transfer but was denied). So here’s a quick rundown of my stats

Finished high school with a 2.8 GPA, 1900 on SATs (Not that it really matters now)
I went to a private school last year, and due to a whole multitude of problems out of my control (which I will explain in my essay) I did not have a very good year. My average GPA after 2 semesters was a 2.46, which isn’t too great, however I did make some huge changes this year

I transfered to my local CC over the summer, where I earned my first college A. This semester I took 19 credits and finished with 5 A’s and 2 B’s, not too bad, which put this semester in the 3.7 range. I’ve yet to combine my grades from this year and last, but do you guys think this upward trend will help? I also did extracurriculars, mainly cross country and tons of community service, so hopefully that counts for something. I currently have about 57 credits, so I’m one class shy of an associates degree (another plus?).

Oh, and I’m applying to SAS for English and Sociology.

hi i am applying this fall to Rutgers business school both new brunswick b and Newark and sas in new brunswick. i have 55 credits from mcc and my GPA is 3.06 please tell me what are my chances. i have done all the preq for the Rutgers business school.

hiii.
im looking to transfer to rutgers nb- sas. im hoping to get in there so badly! i love it.
i only have 18 credits and by the time second semester is finished ill have 36.
my college gpa is 3.4!
in high school i got a 2.9, ugh
my SATs were a 1540.
what do you think my chances are?!
please and thank you.

I just finished my first semester of my freshman year with a GPA of 3.15 and 16 credits, in high school I graduated with a GPA of 3.54, and for my SATs I got a 1540, 600 Math, 490 Reading, and 450 Writing. What do you think my chances of getting into Rutgers SAS. By Fall of 2012 I will have completed 32 credits. I applied twice before already and got denied. Please respond, I’d love some feedback. Thank you.

Hey everyone!

I applied to RU NB school of biological sciences for animal sciences and was just wondering if you’d be able to tell me my chances of getting in! Im a sophmore, and would be coming in as a jr. my first year of college really sucked and i ended the year with a gpa of 2.0, but this year after my first semester i ended with a gpa of 3.4 and making deans list (i am now at a 4 yr university). I also have a TON of extra. activites and volunteer work, etc.

Thanks!!

This thread died pretty quickly haha, but hey guys. I posted my stats a while back and what I was hoping to get at the end of the semester, and I did it! 3.8 GPA for the semester, bringing me all the way up to a 3.0 from a 2.4. I’d suggest if some of you guys want a good indicator of whether you’ll get in or not, go look at the Spring transfer thread and the stats of those who got in. Generally a 3.0 GPA is the
“cutting off” point from what I’ve inferred (though it’s not official). From my research I
ve found that all schools consider your most recent work as an indicator of how strong of a student you are (I know this should be obvious), so I hope you all did pretty well this semester. I’m submitting my application tomorrow and mailing my transcripts out around the same time. Rutgers has been known to give really early responses, so I may even hear before Feb 1! Best of luck to all of you guys.

Just read through the other threads…

I’m transferring from Brookdale CC with a 3.2 even and 37 credits. I applied Senior year of high school and got into the Camden Campus. I had a 3.3 in high school and my SAT’s were CR: 610, Math: 670, Writing: 500. Can anyone give me an idea whether or not I have a chance?

Hey guys! I applied to Rutgers-New Brunswick as a transfer for fall 2012. I’m currently a freshman at the University of Pittsburgh. I didn’t do so well in my first (and so far only) semester. I got a 2.63 gpa (from 13 credits that counted towards my gpa). My high school gpa was a 3.75. And i had an 1840 on my SAT. I’m taking 17 credits this semester and a starting a work study job in the business school’s admissions office. I have very good extracurricular activities, too. I applied to Rutgers’ business school, SAS and SEBS. I know my chances at getting into the business school aren’t great, but since I’ve only one college semester under my belt, what are my chances of getting into any of these schools? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
