Official SAT Math IIc October Discussion

it cant be a "line with four points". a line has infinitely many points, especially when there are no references to integers being the points.

the heart rate question is 60 im fairly sure. the purpose of the question was to see if you can find the period of a function. a period would then be used to find the number of beats.

for the question about the function f(x) >= 0 on all real numbers and it being a I, II, III question. wat did u put? i put II only because i graphed it and thot i saw I go under the x-axis, but my friend tells me its I and II?

I agree with lakshmi. I'm pretty sure the problem stated that you need all the solutions, so only a circle would encompass ALL those points.

Upload to a website and just post the link.

I thought it was I and II also. I don't remember too clearly though. It did not seem possible that the function went below the x-axis... but I could be remembering something else. Do you remember which functions were involved?

the function was like x^4 something. i very well could be wrong but i remember it dipping under...

i think i only have 2 wrong so far but i very well could be wrong. crosses fingers for 800

Hey guys... I think the test went pretty well for me.

For the 2 most controversial questions:
- I got 2 circles for the line and plane one
- I got 60 for the heartbeat one

hey thot of question!
what's the polar form of (1/2, -rad3/2), i said (1, 5pi/3). that's it.
i posted like 30 questions lol...can someone at least post a couple more of the confusing ones left? i wanna guess my score to know to cancel or not :/

Yeah, the polar equation one is right. I got the same answer.

Anyone remember the I,II,III question? Did it go under the x-axis or not? I remember it didn't... xD

did that question ask if the f(x) was <= 0 or if it wasn't?

I think it was asking if it was >= 0.

oh yeah thats right. i think I put I and II. i put that x^4 equation as being equal to zero. i remember that it was w-shaped but i never zoomed in to see if it dipped below the x-axis so i don't know. i think i remember the other function being definitely above zero.

Yeah, I thought I [or was it II?] had an e^(x) type of function... that could not dip below the x-axis... what was the other function??

I put I and II as well.

Yay. Okay, I was getting worried yet again. Mann, many a panic attack have I had today.

i also put I and II. III was something about tangent inverse, which my lovely TI89 showed dipping below the x-axis.

Yes, don't you love the TI-89? It's my buddy on the Math IIC for sure...
I love the solve() function to death. I used it for a lot of problems.

haha true dat. i know that is missed two questions for sure (if the two circles thing is correct). haha an 800 would make me pretty dam happy

*i missed (its telling me to lengthen my reply so im adding this little thingy)

oh plz let the curve be 43=800 gahh... anyway, if anyone has more questions, please post. i will remember the answers i put, just not specific ques's

is there any way to know before your early school receives the rushed score? loll...

For the 2 most controversial questions:
- I got 4 for the line and plane one
- I got 120 for the heartbeat one

you know on the -cosx = sqroot(1-sinx), it was quadrants II and III, right? I tried looking for it in the posts but i couldn't find it. i didn't put that answer tho cuz i solved it and if you do that, you eventually get (sinx)^2 + (cosx)^2 = 1 which is true for all values of x. this is what i put for my answer.

the quadrant thing makes sense because i get that -cosx must be positive for it to equal the square root of anything. And since cosine is negative in quad. II and III, this is the answer. i'm so mad that solving it like i did doesn't work. was my answer the trap, ya think?
