Official SAT Subject Test - Literature - June 2015

also was it an attack? or was he exposing the guy as dishonest and malicious?

i said it was an attack on him being like humanitarian but only through his own interests. also i said he was a politician, but i wasn’t completely sure on that

I thought politician and attacking his view of humanity or something along those lines.

was it somewhat like the ap lang test?

in terms of mcq of course

“To Sleep” was about death. The first and last lines talked about embalming and a casket. And I found this analysis:
http://mural.uv.es/jesheres/poesia2.html

Wilberforce is a historical politician from Yorkshire, so I believe that’s the correct answer. His Wikipedia page seems to answer most of the questions for that passage

@CTnerd it was about death? Awesome! I thought I interpreted that poem extremely wrong.

I think The Yellow Wallpaper was one of the stories.

@swagcurryyolo hmm a bit more challenging than lang mcq in my opinion. I liked the lang ones because they were non fiction and nothing super wordy or hard to decipher. On the subject test there was a lot of further analyzing because of the documents used, such as poem, play, and historical writing.

on the “to sleep” passage was it apostrophe and personification?

@TheAtlantic Yeah, I just read a quick analysis of it and I think I got the romantic felicity and/or the question about the summer house wrong.

@asappebble I’m pretty sure

@ctnerd123 yeah, the romantic felicity was the one thing on that passage I didnt know, so I skipped.
The first two passages were really straight forward. Then I second guessed a bit on the working husband and embalmer piece. I also really liked the acting one. I’ve never liked reading, but for some reason I really enjoyed this test…

@asappebble Yes

@asappebble The acting one was enjoyable, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that there was supposed to be something comic about how the Player was talking. I hope none of the answers were comedy because I didn’t put that

Yeah same I didn’t answer that question because I had no idea. Was one of them answers acting to expectations? And also what about purpose of spies dying via pantomime?

I think the piece was comical but the character was definitely serious. One of those tone vs mood issues.

Yeah I believe it was acting to expectations

Yeah acting to expectations was what I put

did anyone put flippant for the tone question

yes, I did, it was like “flippant and _____.” but yes that was the answer
