i think i put remorseful but i may have gotten that one wrong
How about the question like: “what can we learn about the house?” and there were three choices i, ii, and iii?
I was stuck between it and another choice. Not sure which I put
I think it was 1 and 2
3 was about the architectual style of the house, but she never describes it. She explicitly says the first, and I believe the second
I second 1 and 2 for that one. I thought the most straightforward passage out of the whole test was the running girl with her brother.
What was the except question about the wife and husband? like he was male, her husband, her brother agreed with her, etc
he already prescribed her medecine
The medicine one.
But didn’t the poem say that she had tried “phosphates and phosphites” and other medecines? I guess it didn’t specifically say they were prescribed by her husband but for me it was between that and male, which I chose
The fact that she’s had to take phosphates and phosphites proves they arent working if her condition isnt changing though right?
Because I’ve read the story before, The Ye)low Wallpaper is a piece of feminist literature and the drugs do not work. So that probably clouded my judgement. But inside the passage it never says the medicine actually works, but there is a heavily implied submissive nature to their relationship in the passage. I wouldnt be surprised if I was wrong, cause I honestly used what I knew from the story on that one (It was the last question iirc and that one just stuck out)
On second thought, I think medicine was the right choice. I did have a feeling that it couldn’t me male because the story did project a sense of submissiveness, male just seemed obvious to me in the moment I guess.
Also, what was the answer to the question about the tone of the passage (I forget which one)?. I had narrowed it down between supplicatory and effusive and chose effusive.
I put male because I don’t think that would be a factor in why she listened to him.
for the politician one, there was a question regarding the way he regards honesty; I was torn between “frequently buys it” or “partially supports it”
^ I put partially supports it.
I also put because he was male for the same reason.
It wasn’t a modern piece, which is why the male thing has some merit as a choice.
@jackwink17 @theatlantic i put lacks confidence in for that one i think. that was the one that was asking about the meaning of patronizing honesty instead of being a martyr to it or something like that
I just remember what the first passage, about the end of the fall and into the winter season; I would love to discuss any questions people can remember. But what was the answer about what was the attitude about like the first 8ish lines: one of the answer choices was like “we deserve more.”
/what was the answer in the sonnet: how is this sonnet different
If you’re talking about the one I think, was it something like resignation ? Or is that a totally different question. Also the one with the seasons totally confused me. I had winter but then I switched it to summer. Does anyone know what the correct thing was?
