***May 2015 - Literature***

What did you guys think of it? I thought the first passage was a little hard.

Agreed. What did the “to sleep to…and wake to sorrow is doom to all who loved and lived” mean?

God the first passage was so hard and it made me so scared - they need to save the harder passages for last because I was still jittery when I got to the later easier ones

I’m pretty sure that it meant that people dream of being with someone they love, and they so caught up in these dreams that they think it could be a reality, but then eventually they are “doomed” to “wake up” and realize that that is not always the case

So what was the answer there? (A) for untrue are doomed, or (B) for romance often disappoints, or something else?

I put that romance often disappoints

I actually thoroughly enjoyed the readings, the questions were a little rough though, and what the heck is “spiritual orgasm”? LOL

for the character sketch one, what did you say “mean” signified? I said “cruel,” but I wasn’t sure.

I said mean was “small-minded” but not 100% sure either.

I said “Small-minded” as well and “romance often disappoints” for the other one.

same. i put “romance disappoints” and I think it was small-minded because she was a hypocrite. the other question asked why it was ironic or something about the clergy.

does anyone remember that one passage about the exploding tree? questions about the geese and journey, etc. what was that one about lines something to something about the routine?

yeah–i said that his life was too routine and that he wasn’t challenging life (tbh i don’t exactly remember the question lol)
what’d you guys think of this test though? i thought it was a lot easier than the princeton review tests, but ill be lucky if i can get at least a 650

Maybe, I did well on the Princeton Reviews so hopefully that’s a good sign.

Taking lit in June…would you guys recommend Kaplan or Princeton Review?

@fireonice i would definitely recommend baron’s

For “scarce our fancy can forgive,” was it that fantasy encourages overreliance on emotion?

@seahawks1212 I heard Barron’s has a lot of rather useless info like lots of literary terms?

@twnnca I think so, at least that’s what I put

@fireonice Barron’s and Princeton Review are great, Kaplan? not so much.

@case423 thanks! I got Princeton Review, preparing to take it in June

Does anybody know what the curve is gonna be? I think I missed 10-15 out of 60
