*OFFICIAL* September 2012 ACT English Section Discussion

Put down ur thoughts and questions pls

Im a pessimist when it comes to test, but i honestly thing i got no less than 30  theres a good chance i may have got a 36 as well!

Depending on the curve, maybe a 35 or 36. I was only stumped on one question. Regarding the Tippy Test, what the hell was the answer to the one involving commas and semi colons and the word maneuvering?

If I had to make a choice, I would have just done “…and maneuvering…” but that wasn’t an option so I had to pick between " ,and maneuvering" and “;maneuvering”. I picked the first. Not sure if that’s right or not.

That’s the one i was unsure of  i think i may have put the first one also (y)

What was the full question?

If I didn’t get a 36, I would honestly be surprised…

Me too. I’ll be surprised if I don’t get a 36 on english and a 1 on science

wcclirl444, I honestly don’t remember. Maybe someone else does. I just know that is basically came down to a comma vs a semicolon is a place where I felt neither should be used as the break was too weak for both of them. I went with the comma because it was weaker than a semicolon.

The one about the dirt and the kids playing. Was it something about being on the farm or something about their feet in the dirt or whatever? lol

What about choice with sang, to be sung, and singing? I’m not really sure about that

It shouldn’t have been changed. The entire thing was about them playing in red dirt and their feet being cruddy and all the fun they had. Nothing else given fit the passage.

At least I think.

It said something about how the options were amazed at it, then on the farm.

^ correct, i do believe

i get freaked out when i see a row of the same answer. did anyone else get a chain of “c and h’s” at the end and a bunch of a’s/f’s in the beginning? there was also this one question in the kids playing in the dirt section.

Which best describes that the kids made different designs

a. NO CHANGE…(we wanted to believe our were unique)
b. …stupid answer
c. we decided on the shape, size and design

the question was along those lines…

this was the easiest section on the test… but the science was torture

I had 3 maybe 4 chains of answers of 3 in a row

i.g.

A
A
A

Something like that idk the exact letter.

And redsummer13, I said the shape, size, length answer

@Lake I had chains too!

that is what i put! i overall thought the test of easier…but some of them were tricky

the answer was C for that question red summer. It most specifically gave what was being varied

i had one chain of 4 c’s
