Official September 2013 ACT Math Thread

It was rational numbers, integer, than naturals. Rational being the biggest. So i think it was circle square triangle

Does anyone remember what letter choice was 2a +2b> a + b + c

That was the last option @just4

Can anyone predict how many wrong is needed for at least a 30?

Can someone plz tell me is the answer 52 for the trapezoid question the lowest number out of the five choices?

Tmdgus, I got that. And I think a couple other people did as well

52 was the second highest i believe then there was like 64 right after it

It was 52 because there was an isosceles triangle with bottom base 16, height, 4 and sides 5. The 4 makes a 90 degree with the sides forming 3-4-5 triangle on each side…16-3-3 equals 10. 10 times 4 is 40 plus the two triangles each 6 because 4 times 3 divided by 2 for a total of 40 + 6 + 6 = 52

I also got 7/(cos 56) because if you extend that triangle past the circle to the right from the drawing provided in a previous post you get 90 degree triangle within which is the 56 degree and 34 degree…the 34 degree doesn’t help so you focus on the 56 degree and it is adjacent to AO and 7…AO is the longest side and is the hypotenuse (opposite of 90 degree angle as well). Thus cos 56 = 7/(AO)… AO = 7/(cos 56) when you rearrange the equation

So now we have a consensus on the cos 56 one, 2a+2b>a+b+c, the trapezoid one is 52. Those are 100% correct. Anyone remember the coffee ones??

Does anyone remember a question where it asked to give a system of equations for a b and c in the alloted time. There was a chart on the left side it said cut produce finish and there were hour limits

Anyone remember what form this test was?

71D I believe.

@just answer was D with the <2400 ect. That was the only answer that matched up with the table.

Coffee questioned were pretty easy.

I got -3 how much would that be?

hopefully 34

@just I thought the answer to the inequality one was A.

Damn, then I got 1 wrong. Goddamnit. I didn’t know I’d get anything wrong for effing ACT math. These are all what I learned in middle school. I’ve only gotten 36 on the practice tests (started with 36) and I’m pretty sure I could’ve gotten 36 if I took this at 13. This is so insulting lol.

lmao… ^
