Official September ACT Discussion Thread

So what did you guys think of the test?

This is How I would compare it as apposed to the last one in June

English- Easier
Reading-Harder by a decent amount
Math- About the same (I’m good at math and my calculator started screwing up half way through so it’s hard to judge)
Science-A lot harder compared to last time in my opinion. I have always thought that the science section was a gimme from taking both the ACT once before and having taken the PLAN. Maybe I just went into it too cocky, but I felt like I should have been getting answers quicker and with much more certainty.
Writing- I really like the topic. I always appreciate ACT topics over SAT topics. Anyway I liked my essay so hopefully it will get a good grade.

idk…i thought the math was more challenging than any practice test i’ve ever taken…ugh great…i was freaking out

…and the reading…like wth…i’ve never run out of time before, but today the proctor was like 5 minutes! and i just had begun reading the passage…ughh then he had a window open…and the birds were chirping like crazy and people were playing baseball or something outside…so i basically guessed on the the last quarter. ■■■.

Compared to real practice ACT tests I took…

English: much easier (15 minutes left at the end of this one)
Math: Eh. I don’t know. I had about 5 minutes left and there were two questions I wasn’t sure of, so it seemed about average to me.
Science: Much harder. I was struggling to answer all the questions within the time limit. Maybe a nice curve?
Reading: About average. Maybe a little harder?
Writing: Average.

^ Completely agreed, and I got a 35 on science the last time… but since ACT actually curbes tests unlike the SAT people, we’ll see some good numbers… hopefully.

Overall I thought this ACT was harder than last time.

English - No prob

Math - ALOT HARDER!! total wth moment for me… i average 34 on practices totaly f’ed this one up. one question had an error if u caught it. How are they going to put a ferris wheel problem in a 1 minute per question test?

Reading- As usual a time struggle… i still dont know what the first article was about…

Science- Was ok but some of it was badly written/required outside knowledge.

I personally thought the math section was a lot more difficult than on past dates. A certain section of science (not sure on what I’m allowed to say on here) made me feel like I was translating Ancient Greek.

when can we start discussing individual questions?

BTW, reading caught me of by surprise. 1st passage was ridiculous. And science was so ridiculous that i didn’t even read all the paragraphs. Some questions in english were kind of iffy.

English=Easy
Math=Easy until halfway through(for me). Then it’s time to start guessing!!!
Reading=Hard as hell first passage. Hard to get the gist of it but then, easy afterwards. Until I realize I had no time and missed freakin 5 questions!!!
Science-Easy, but sorta hard to understand. I thought it would have been easier. I had to guess on some of them
Writing=I liked the prompt, it was nice and relatable for me. Hopefully I do well.

What was that ferris wheel one? Didn’t even know where to start. Just put C cause I ran out of time.

post #8…thank god i wasn’t the only who thought math was more difficult…generous curve, anyone? i usually finish with 10-15 minutes to spare…none this time…and had to guess on a good 3-4 questions…not including the ones i felt iffy about

reading - not bad except for the first passage
english - not bad
math - ehhh it was math
science - had to rush like crazy on this one; thought the last and third-to-last(I think?) were the most difficult
writing - thought I did really well on my essay, probably my best part of the test

This was my first time taking it and overall I felt it was easier than the SAT (which I did poorly on) content-wise, but it really is the time constraint that makes it tough.

Science…headdesk

when do the scores come out

Reading-harder than past tests
English-fairly easy
Math-Average
Science-easier than usual

c0026- September 28.

english - average
math - easier than June, but I still struggled with it
reading - okay
science - hell
writing - the prompt was good, but i just can’t write quickly so my essay was ****

English was extremely easy. I’ll drown myself if I don’t get a 36.

Math was typical, but it had a few quirky problems that might have tripped me up.

Reading was decent. The first passage was a b itch to interpret, but the rest was fair and straightforward.

Science was disgusting. I guessed on three and am pretty sure I missed 8-10 more. It will easily be my lowest score.

Wow I didn’t think this many people would post on my thread lol
English- Easy except a couple were hard
Math- Easy except for the last one and the i problem and the ferris wheel
Reading- First passage=hell rest was easy
Science- Easy except last section
