crap.

International student here. No sign of scores yet ;P. got 31 last time and hoping for a nice superscore for uchicago :D

English: 35 (31 in Oct)
Math: 33 (28 in Oct — Yay! Big improvement!)
Reading: 35 (32 in Oct)
Science: 27 (Ouch. Had a 30 in Oct. Regression…)
Writing: 9 (9 in Oct)

Composite: 33 (YAY!!! Wanted a 32, but wasn’t expecting it. Was expecting to stay the same - 30).

Though I’m happy about composite + E/M/R sections, I’m ticked about science. Not only did it go down, but it’s SIX points lower than my second-lowest. Ick. I even studied this time (not to mention I’ve done an AP Science since my last attempt) but still went down I almost want to retake it just for science.

Composite: 32

English: 34
Math: 33
Reading: 31
Science: 30

anyone else having trouble with the early score act checker?

It won’t work now.

Scores have been officially released - you don’t need the early score checker.

I can check my score through early act score checker only if my status is tested, right?

is everyones essay not graded yet?

Mine is graded.

32 c! 36 e 34 r 30 m 27 s. one point from a 33!

I didn’t use the early score checker. If your status us tested then you can view then normally.

does anyone have any idea what the math and reading curves were like?

35 english, 36 math, 33 reading, 36 science, 8 essay
Composite: 35
I’m satisfied; it was a one point increase from last year… but it still isn’t a 36. DX
Oh well…

@elizabeth: I got a 16 on plane geometry/trig. (compared to 18s on pre-algebra and algebra), and still got a 36 on the math section, so the curve must be pretty lenient.

@yangmaster, the math curve is much harsher for this test than June. D got 4 more wrong in June but same math score for both tests

S got a 35 in April with an 18/17/18. If someone got a 36 with a 16 sub section score I would say the curve for September was very lenient. That is lower sub-section score but a higher math score than the April test. Wow.

DD experience:

Took in June and was amazed to get a 32 composite (was hoping for a 30). Unfortunately, didn’t take the writing, so did some prep work this time and goal was to try and get the 32 again.
Ended up with a new 33 so quite pleased. I would categorize her as a ‘good test taker’ meaning she is careful and makes good educated guesses on ones she doesn’t know.

Here was her experience: (SAT was just fair, so decided to try ACT)

June test - no prep or studying other than looking at a few questions online to see the format - came home saying test was ‘fine’ but Science was really difficult.
scores - Eng 32, Math 34, Reading 36, Science 27 - Composite 32

Totally surprised by the Math and Reading. Math is not her strong suit at all.
Not surprised by Science since it is a ‘reasoning test’, which we know she doesn’t
do well on (from SATs and couldn’t do a word problem to save her life).

prep for Oct - during the week before the test -
read tips from Barron 36, did practice sections from the red book - one reading,
two English, two math, and four science. This is the Science strategy she ended
up liking and using: 1) save the conflicting viewpoints for last so you don’t spend all your time on it and 2) start with the questions and only read parts of the passages if needed. You can answer about 3/4 of the questions by just looking at the charts to save time. Before, she would read the passage and get overwhelmed by all the terms she didn’t know.

FYI - during these practice sections, her scores were usually in the 30-34 range, except
for Science which ranged from 28 - 32. So we were feeling pretty good about getting that 32 composite. A normal practice section for math and science might be ‘there were 2-4 that I’m not sure about and 2 I had no idea on’. The score ranges all came down to 1) did she make any careless mistakes and 2) did she guess well on those few she didn’t know

Oct test - she came home saying ‘I did great on English, Reading, and the essay, but the Math and Science were really hard’. Also, she said time management was a lot harder - at home she finished with a minute or two extra, but at test time, she was rushing at the end to mark guesses. She felt for Math and Science there were 4-6 she had ‘no idea on’ as opposed to our practice tests of 2, and that didn’t count the ones that were ‘really hard’.

Scores for Oct -
Eng 34 (up 2 YAY!)
Reading 36 (same YAY!)
Math 30 (down 4, but probably more in line with her actual math skills)
Science 31 (up 4, the practice sections and new strategy seem to have helped).
Composite 33 (up 1 - just made it with the rounding)
Essay - not scored yet - hoping to get at least 30 combined w/English because
in our state that will get you out of an entry level writing class

HELP…Has anyone ever experienced incorrect score reporting on the ACT test. Here is my situation. I took the test in April with a concussion and scored a 30. I wanted to improve my score for scholarships and ED to an IVY. I took it again on September 21 (no concussion and well prepared) and scored a 25. All of the sections were remarkably lower. My english was a 32 the first time and this time around it was a 24. I took a prep class, private tutoring and studied a ton. Could it be that the test they put in for me is not actually my test? It seems impossible with all of my prep that I would go backwards in my score so drastically. I am devastated. Any ideas?
