Hey guys, letters are starting to roll in (I got my acceptance package today!) so I thought we could start a decisions thread, just like every other school. :b

Feel free to post stats, a little about yourself, why you think you did / didn't get in, or whatever else!

I'll start!
I'm Brittany, not all that into posting stats, from Baltimore, MD, and feeling a huge sense of relief to have heard from ALL my schools now. The colour yellow pretty much typifies my life. I drink lots and lots of tea and vitamin water. I love Demetri Martin, MIA, and Wallace Stevens (a comedian, a musician, and a poet, respectively). I'm really, really excited about being accepted to SLC and, by extension, meeting all of you guys!! :)

I got my acceptance in the mail today! I'm really glad I got accepted, just waiting on my U of Michigan decision and then I'll know if I've gotten into all my schools.

It's funny, yesterday I wouldn't have even considered going anywhere except NYU (my first choice), but now that I've gotten to SLC I'm really considering going. I haven't had a chance to visit it yet, so hopefully that'll help me make up my mind.

Robotron: I felt the same way about NYU but was rejected. I visited SLC and really liked it. The campus is beautiful and everyone was very friendly. Personally I really liked the fact that going there would give me the classic "college campus" experience with very close proximity to NYC. I would strongly suggest visiting.

hi. im sean from south jersey. i got my decision letter on the 2nd. Im so happy. I'm thinking about concentrating in dance, anthropology, and english. I don't know what i want to do with my life, but hopefully this school can lead me in the right direction. I can't wait to meet my gayfolk community! Are their any on this forum?

hey, does anyone know how the sport system works at SLC? cause i want to play volleyball in the fall and basketball in the spring, but i was wondering how the system works. if anyone could tell me, i'd really appreciate it! :)

Hmm...I got in. I'm from Nepal. Name's Pranaya Rana. Don't know what I want to do with my life. Just hope SLC can show me. Hopefully doing something in English. But yet, undecided.

SLC, I would assume, has a far lower matriculation ratio than most schools, meaning, depending on one's place on the WL, one might have an easier time getting removed from it. If she is persistent and dogged in her efforts to be accepted, I would think she has a decent chance.

Also, I'd like to add my profile to the running list. I was accepted, and am a male from Alabama. (Yeah, THAT state. Please don't hurt me.) If I matriculate to SLC, which I hope to, although monetary complications might impede my aspirations, then I'll most likely major in Creative Writing. I'm (among other factors) attracted to SLC's proximity to the City. It will certainly be useful for establishing connections in publishing or with literary agents. But at the same time, I'm spending my collegiate years in a pastoral, verdant campus, removed (but not too far) from the explosive citylife. Not to mention that SLC offers a tremendous education in writing of all forms. If only it didn't cost $50,000/yr. Oh well...I think the potential benefits might outweigh the added costs, unless we end up going broke and having to sell our house.

I just got into SLC and am extremely excited. I'm from North Carolina and I truly want to go up north for college. I want to major in English and eventually become a college professor. SLC is at the top of my list, but I heard that there isn't really a strong community sense. Supposedly the campus is rather divided. Has anyone else heard this?

"Hi Gettingthere, since you are from NC, can you tell me antyhing about Warren Wilson college?"

What a lovely coincidence! This is currently a question of mine. Two schools I'll have to choose between - Warren Wilson (accepted) and Sarah Lawrence (waitlisted). I'm going to North Carolina to visit in a couple days on a 21 hour bus ride! Ugh. I really like what I hear about the school... but its soo far away. Is your daughter dealing with some of the same problems?
