I’m kind of weird in that I’m one of the few people left, at my school at least, who actually only really listens to Classical music. I absolutely adore Mahler, Richard Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Bach, and many more. Part of me is sad that I’m a senior this year, because there’s a new freshman at my school who quite literally has the exact same musical tastes as I do, and he’s the first person in my high school that I’ve met with those tastes. I did feel a little nervous putting my favorite composers on the Stanford short answer section because I thought it might look like I was “trying too hard,” but I figured that, if it’s the truth, I shouldn’t worry about putting it down! :)

I put some of my favorite composers in Stanford’s section. I really like classical era stuff - Clementi, Schumann, Hadyn, etc. As far as modem music, Bon Iver, Coldplay, Passion Pit, Two Door Cinema Club, The Killers, MGMT, Arcade Fire, etc. There is stuff from throughout the 1900s on my iPod as well lulz. Music is a huge part of my life. I actually wrote my roommate essay with a slant about music.

^^ Eh, don’t be silly. I mean, it might be a big bummer for a few weeks, or maybe even months, but it won’t break your life. The fact is that most of us on this thread are intelligent, sociable, and will be able to go far in life. I don’t believe an individual college will define us – rather, the choices we make of how to spend our lives will.

lulz it was obvs exaggeration. I’m not too worried about it. Life goes on and I like lots of schools that I will most likely get into. It would ruin my weekend though.

adodie - Romeo and Juliet. I play trombone and sing baritone.

noble6 - Around ten pages back (too lazy to actually check), we went through a ton of speculation on when and how we would be notified if you are interested.

@ Holocene Oh haha, I’ve never been one to detect sarcasm and I tend to take everybody seriously. Which is kind of bad considering I am a highly sarcastic person myself. xD

@pita I told everyone I’m applying haha, mainly because everyone asks.

We’ve had one Stanford kid in the past 10 years, if I’m not mistaken, and I’m the only SCEA Stanford this year (in fact, I believe I’m the only EA HYPSCM from my school this year…)

when people ask i just tell them i’m trying to go to one of my safeties! im not tryna have people analyze me for thinking i could maybe get into stanford. idk around here people don’t get close to good schools besides duke. duke’s the best we’ve got. I think people see the ives and stanford as a betrayal to the South and im just like “no, i just want to see other places” …but im still applying to duke. i think harvard is my safety though
