OFFICIAL Stanford University RD Decisions - Class of 2013

OK. The mods and I have decided to relaunch the thread, because we now have a NEW working template. Special thanks to geckolord for his fantastic job of manipulating computer code! (You're truly amazing at it :))

**Please, please, please refrain from discussing or whining about waiting for or recieving your admissions decisions!!! It wastes specious space, and it makes finding the decisions on this thread tedious and difficult. Any posts that are not relevant to Stanford's decisions (aka whether Stanford accepts/rejects/waitlists you) will be subject to deletion.

If you need to spill, do so here: <a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/673571-official-stanford-rd-decisions-discussion-thread-class-2013-a.html%5B/url%5D%5B/b%5D%5B/color%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/673571-official-stanford-rd-decisions-discussion-thread-class-2013-a.html**</a></p>

Note to mods: Please sticky this thread to the top of the Stanford board. Muchas gracias!

The only people who are allowed to post on this thread are early approved people, like nglosh314.

And as you may have realized, this is special vanishing computer code that allows you to post stats without removing the annoying spaces in between the brackets.

**This is an updated format to address ngolsh314’s concerns. /b

[] Income Bracket: high
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): legacy
[/ul]Reflection[ul]
[] Strengths: legacy, test scores, athletic prowess
[] Weaknesses: grades, awards
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: I won’t lie, the fact that my dad went to Stanford def. got me in (although he never donated much). I think the fact that I’m going into engineering and have straight As in all my school’s top math and science classes helped, too. Also, my Why Stanford essay was basically a play off the “day in the life” theme. It demonstrated just how much I knew about the school and how much I wanted to go there.
[/ul]General Comments: WOW. OMG. WOW. Complete shock. I lost almost all hope after being deferred SCEA, and I was really down today after rejection at Princeton and waitlist at Cornell (moreso Cornell, I thought I was almost a shoo-in). I saw the email and was shocked. Still can’t fully believe my acceptance- my grades were by no means good.

Decision: Waitlisted

Objective:[ul]
[]SAT: 2300 superscored (770 m, 760 CR, 770 w)

[]ACT: 32 (didn’t send)
[]GPA: 3.89 unweighted
[li]Rank: School doesn’t rank
[/li]

[/ul]Subjective:[ul]
[]Essays: Overall excellent. I thought they were the highlight of my application - Common App was a synthesis of morality vs. artistic expression during a theatre production I was in, and my first two short answers were very reflective of my personality. My Why Stanford?, however, was a major fail.
[]Teacher Rec: Didn’t read, but I chose teachers that like me
[]Counselor Rec: Same as above
[]Hook (if any): Double legacy (father and grandmother)
[/ul]
Location/Person:[ul]
[]State or Country: WA
[]School Type: Very small independent private
[]Ethnicity: White
[]Gender: Male
[]major strength/weakness: Strength: Essays, test scores Weakness: G.P.A, my music audition possibly
[]why you think you were accepted/rejected/defered: Even though I’m a legacy (father and grandmother), I’ve never been to Stanford’s campus…consequently my Why Stanford? was somewhat lacking. I’m shocked I was waitlisted and not rejected!![/ul]

General Comments: Congratulations to everyone who got accepted! Hopefully I get off this waitlist :P

Decision: Waitlisted
