***Official Thread for 2014 BSMD applicants***

Hey! I applied with the Prestige app sorta last minute before the deadline and I haven’t gotten anything about the UG part of it yet. I just felt weird not having to send in an essay while applying to a medical program haha.
And I think they send out stuff about the medical part to all the students together around a certain time. It was that way for another place I’m applying to as well!

@greensage good to see a fellow foregin studyeee! haha. Good point about the AP’s and how they are not consistent at all in their rigor, work across different states, different types of high school, etc. I personally go to an early college so I do not deal with APs (thankfully) and most of my college classes are considered as hard or harder than APs even though some people hate on dual-enrollment for some reason.

When is the Drexel supplement due? Weren’t applications due some time ago already? or is this a secondary supplement only certain students were invited to fill out?

Drexel Supplements were DUE as per individual UG programs: Drexel/Drexel Nov1, Lehigh/Drexel Nov 15, Villanova by REQUEST only!

@matrixsurgeon, whooo! foreign studyees! And I don’t think dual enrollment is bad at all! It sounds like a good experience tbh. My freshman/sophomore years of HS, I was thinking about graduating early (after 3 years). I was eligible to but I’m not sure why I decided to go through another year of APs -_- …On the other hand, if i graduated early, I would have been a 15 year old at college and that’s absurd. College at 15, med school at 18-19. ~barely an adult; not even legal drinking age~ would not have had any friends or fit in with any group at college, i.e. terrible life lol

The drexel supplements are generally handed with along with the UG app except for some of them like monmouth, rosemont, etc. where they ask for it later I guess. The one for Rosemont was emailed to you if you qualified and it’s due by jan. 1st.

Does anyone know about the ursinus program? I kinda just applied last minute since there was no app fee, but it didn’t ask for a drexel supplement at the time. I recently got an update that i was accepted to their UG program but… they didn’t email me anything about needing the drexel supplement for the BS/MD or anything. I’m wondering if I should call them or if they might be emailing about it later…?

I got a call today to schedule an interview for the TCNJ med program. Did anyone else get a call?

Interview at TCNJ or at the MED SCHOOL??

Med school interviews with NJMS are not till MARCH guys chillll out!

Ha, ha, ha. At this stage, any invitation for interview will be for the first round selection by the undergraduate colleges before deciding which apps to pass to the med school. The first lot of interview invitation is likely from UMKC, and then the rest in dribs and drabs from AMC (students have received interview invitation from AMC in December in the last few years) and then UAB in January.

@greensage wow that seems like an interesting option. in theory i could go through a similar timeline if i choose to go to a state school. I’ll graduate at 17 with 2 years of college under my belt. if i were to go to state school (i know tht private schools are stringy with APs, IBs, Dual-enrollments) and I graduated in 2 years and somehow got accepted into med school as a 19 year old, tht would be AWESOME!! but as of now thats not likely at all… if i dont get into one of my private schools and get decent money, ill probs end up at UNC and use the 2 years of cred to probs get a double major in two different fields with lots of grad classes and graduate in 4 years at 21 or graduate in 4 years at 21 with a bachelors and masters degree (some state schools have competitive Bachelors/Masters dual combo tht one could complete in 5-6 years but with my 2 years of gen-eds done, its 4). The second option seems very very very attractive IF i were to get into those Dual combo program and get all creds properly transferred/placed…

@everyonelse i gotta admit, im kinda jealous of yall cause yall’s 8 year program timelines have already much started with like interviews and first stages…for mine, imma have to wait till march either way for the FIRST stage…good luck to everyone!

@greensage I’ve heard of the prestige app, but I’m not very familiar with all the details. Would you mind explaining? (:
@mezen2 no problem aha

@matrixsurgeon, wow that’s really amazing. It’s just crazy how many options there are though (though it does sometimes seem like a curse with all the confusion). it’s still a great thing, I wish you good luck!

also, does anyone know anything about GWU’s medical program with St. Bonaventure? The deadline was back on november 1st and i applied… but i haven’t heard anything at all about UG or the medical program or even any other general things from their college. I’m starting get a big worried about it…

@shadow522, sure! It’s just a thing they emailed me about and it’s one of those “special higher priority” applications as colleges refer to them, though im sure they’re probably not. The prestige app is very short and simple. It just asks for your basic info, email, scores, etc. And there is no essay required if you apply with it and a writing sample is optional. You still send in your SAT scores and stuff. I don’t think there’s much more difference really other than the fact that the webpage looks prettier lol :P

@GreenSage, isn’t the deadline for the St. Bona and GWU December 1st?? I think you just have to submit the St. Bona UG application by November 1st and the medicine supplements by December 1st. Regardless, St. Bonaventure is a little weird about updating…They’ve mailed me a few letters though telling me which things I needed to complete my application.

@GreenSage I applied to the accelerated med program with GW, and the deadline is Dec. 1st. I handed in all my stuff a month early, and they literally just updated my application status as complete today, so I’m sure they’re still sorting through apps and stuff. I wouldn’t worry, I haven’t heard anything from the undergrad either.
@thejerseygirl I’m away from home for the week, so I wouldn’t know if TCNJ called until Monday or so. When’s your interview? Good luck!!

@GreenSage, son got his email last night inviting him to the SBU/GW first round interview in January. Son extremely excited. Does anyone know how many they interview and how many they pass to GW for second round interview?

@IMGdad congrats to your S!! good luck for his first round interview!

@IMGdad congratulations! Any one else get SBU/GW first round notifications?

@matrixsurgeon and istrum123, thank you. Apparently up to 60 applicants are invited for interview and 20 will be recommended to GW, with GW normally accepting between 15-20 of these students. So the odds are rather good compared to the other BS/MD programs.
