She received Pitt UG/UHC acceptance letter in mid-November. (a month ago from today)

@Dad2013, congrats and good luck to her!

My D received a GAP invitation email today. She got UG/UHC acceptance in min-November, FYI. No scholarship letter yet.

@Dad2013 Congrats to your D! Does it say when the GAP application is due? ahhh this is all so exciting
Seems strange that they would send out ug acceptances so spread apart (MedicalBoy and I just got ours this week). Are they rolling? I hope we get the GAP application soon!

The email said that she must submit a GAP application in one month from the receipt of the email. It may imply that the program is a rolling-based. But not sure.

For NJIT, how did all of you find out about your merit based financial aid you received? Thanks for any reply in advance.

If there is only one interview and we apply to two programs say rosemont/drexel and drexel/drexel. Would drexel med school decide to accept you into only one and not both programs? Is that right? If so which one would be given to us assuming med school accepted us. I thought students were applying more than one drexel ba md program with different undergrad colleges. Wonder why though? Would the same apply to siena/albany and union/albany too? Please let me know. Thanks

My understanding , from past entries into C/C threads, is that a number of applicants have gained acceptance to multiple UG/Drexel programs, as well as multiple UG/AMC programs although I have yet to discern the definitive ruling parameters. I guess my short answer is “I am not sure”

drexel has bad md with several undergrads. rosemont/drexel drexel/drexel villanova/drexel lehigh/drexel. Do they have separate seats alloted. Do you separate drexel med interviews one for each if you are qualified? I know siena/albany and union/albany have separate seat allocation for example. In other words do we improve our chances of getting into drexel medical school by applying to multiple UG/drexel ba md programs? Same question applies to AMC, GW med also. Please let us know. Thanks.

GAP is on rolling basis from the time you recieve the invite. you have time till Feb 15th to recieve this invite.

@bsmd2014, why do you say that drexel has bad md with undergrads?? I’m confused what might make you think this?
As for the answers to your questions, here:

Do they have separate seats alloted?
Yes. I know muhlenberg has 6 or so, but im not sure about the others. you’d have to ask them how many and it depends on the size/popularity of the UG school.

Do you separate drexel med interviews one for each if you are qualified?
No. you only do 1 interview with drexel med.

In other words do we improve our chances of getting into drexel medical school by applying to multiple UG/drexel ba md programs?
Yes! But it’s hurts your chances for the AMC programs. Idk about the GW programs.

@FrozenShardz, the merit aid info for the honors college was included with the acceptance letter. I’m assuming it will be the same for the UG acceptance letter or they might send a separate envelope containing that info. (can’t quite remember the details atm but you will definitely get it in the mail!)

“GAP is on rolling basis from the time you receive the invite.”

I understand this seems to have changed somewhat. They used to hand out applications as soon as you are admitted but they were sitting on it for a couple of months this year.

I applied in September, was accepted to Honors in early October, and just got my GAP invitation in the mail today.

@FrozenShardz- I got an email on Tuesday that told me I had been selected for an award. I followed the directions given in the e-mail and it directed me to make an account for the NJIT portal where they told me how much I was being given.

Methinx he refers to BA/MD programs and NOT that programs are ‘bad’ ??

Does anyone know what the next schools to send out interview notifications will be? Like Penn state/Miami/Boston/GW-GW…

December/January: Penn State, Miami, Villanova, BU and the AMC schools start rolling notifications…a true NSA conspiracy to keep blood pressure hovering at all time highs!

So research is very, very, very important for this program since you are not just becoming a physician, but you are also training to be a scientist that can study the diseases you treat your patients for. Also, research is required during the summer between the 3rd and 4th year. Just to give you an idea, in my freshman class, most of us have either published research papers in journals such as nature, presented our research to the US president, and/or competed at an international level with our work.

While it is possible to get an interview without extensive research, your GPA, SAT, and everything else must be near perfect and you have to had done some basic research anyways. I think there maybe 1 who has not done nearly as extensive research, but their GPA, SAT, and SAT II were essentially perfect and they had great rec letters.

Personally, my grades were good, but not the best (GPA~99) and my SAT was 1440/1600 ( they only care about math and reading for this), but I had the research needed. I’ve spent my summers creating a new drug that prevents cancer from relapsing and is not as toxic as current chemotherapy. I’ve competed with this project at the International Science and Engineering Fair. In addition, I’ve also been working on a new test indacator that would more accurately diagnose sepsis for icu. Honestly, for kids in the program, these types of projects are not considered too spectacular and are close to the norm.

If you don’t have research experience yet and are not a senior, go to your local college/university and see if they need a lab assistant. That’s a great way to get some experience and see if you actually like research.

Is Dec. 1st deadline firm for GAP ?
