Anyone accepted to UTSA FAME please PM me. We can form a group
Anyone else anxiously awaiting the results from Umiami HPM?
@cc5454 I got an email notification for Brooklyn SUNY.
@BiochemStudent I’d wait till the end of the month for MiamiHPM. Last year received their batch of decisions on March 29th I believe.
How can you tell if an interview went well? For example, if your interviewer tells you that your have an impressive application and that they think you would find school X an amazing place to go to med school, is that a good thing or is that something they say to everyone?
Unless your interviewer is the only one making decisions, it means not much. So if the program director says that and they are the ones sending you the letter accepting or rejecting, it means a lot more than one of the interviewers who may have interviewed 5-10% of all the candidates.
@gettingdat2400 I definitely think that the interviewer having told you that “X school is a good fit for you” is excellent! It’s a really obvious way of the interviewer saying they appreciate your application and your conversation with them; chances are, they’ll carry this same belief over when they write a recommendation/advocate on behalf of your candidacy.
@HS2DirectMed Please revoke your Miami application please please please
@ljames6 what if hs2directmed wants to go there? Just because he got into others does not mean he’s obligated to take his app out - also there’s a very small chance his revoking of the application will change the adcoms decisions of someone else’s.
If you’re not gonna go, then there’s no point in preventing others from achieving their dreams
I would like to second the comment by ljames6 for it would be a very thoughtful and kind gesture
For anyone selected to NW, BU and REMS it does not sound practical that they would even consider Miami which has a much lower ranked Medical School
@fifteenpapers he definitely does not want to go there. I’ve spoke with him. Well you never know what might change and if they are strict by that 20 person getting in quota then someone else can get in.
Quick question… I’m an underclassman, and was looking at the programs, and they all require a minimum UW GPA, but my school only puts weighted on transcript. Would they be able to calculate my UW, or judge me based off of the letter grades and weighted?
They are mainly looking to see if you have anything less than an A and not your GPA.
It is quite straightforward calculating your unweighted GPA. If you have all As you have a 4.0 and if you get any grade less than an A, your unweighted GPA starts going down. So if you have 20 As and 5 Bs, your GPA is (20x4 + 5x3)/25 = 3.8. It would be hard to make the cut with that GPA.
@ljames6 oh I see
I totally agree @ljames6 and @BSMDApplFather, and encourage this: if you know you will not go to the BS/MD program you were admitted, please decline your offer ASAP to benefit others on the waitlist excluding some programs without waitlist such as Pitt GAP, their yield historically is 80-(most)100%.
S received Rice/Baylor interview.
@pvnova - did it happen this morning? We have been speculating whether they would act over the weekend.
From what I recall, Miami said they would extend offers to 20 applicants and there was no mention of a wait list. In that scenario, if one of us is the 21st person on the list and a student higher up in the list withdraws it would be a life changing event especially if you do not have any other offers.
