I am not sure about the claim of residency status’ weight for NJMS accelerated program. If any, both the feeder schools and NJMS get more revenue from admitting OOS students. The fee during the medical school portion for OOS student is about 20k (if I remember correctly) more over an IS student per year. So not clear why NJMS or the feeder schools should have any preference to IS students (unless there is some kind of state mandate that I am unaware of as in Univ of California system).
With respect to the likelihood of candidates getting selected from various feeder schools - assuming the candidate is getting the interview through only one feeder school - it seems TCNJ tends to send the biggest batch of students like 20 or so. But I don’t think their financial aid/scholarship packages for the undergrad are that good. Various other feeder schools have mostly single digit allotments. I don’t know the typical numbers for these. But of all the feeder schools NJIT is perhaps the most generous, giving complete fee and tuition waiver for the undergrad portion and even covering a portion of the honors residence hall living expenses (irrespective of IS or OOS). So it makes sense, especially for OOS students, to take maximum benefit of the undergrad portion, especially since they need to shell out more in the med school portion.
Also, if there is indeed such a preference and/or distribution of students now, it may be more because of the higher likelihood of IS ers enrolling than OOS ers due to the super high cost in the medical years (with what total expense upward of 85k/year?)
Does anyone know if BS/MD programs look at the 1st term of senior year when deciding to send interviews? Because they decide in late January and that can’t really be enough time to evaluate those grades.
@srk2k18 : “Does anyone know if BS/MD programs look at the 1st term of senior year when deciding to send interviews? Because they decide in late January and that can’t really be enough time to evaluate those grades.”
The BS/MD programs send interviews are based on applicants first 3-year HS GPA BUT it depends on schools, some of them, e.g. Brown University, Washington University in St. Louis, etc., require applicants to send out a senior mid year score card/report in mid February before they make final admission decisions.
(Applicants probably can relax after 2nd term of HS senior year. LOL)
For those interviewing at Cincinnati, just wondering how everyone is preparing for the MMI for BS/MD? The interview dates this year are Jan 23 and Feb 9.
Are there are lot of people working with coaches or are most just doing the preparing on their own?
This is an oldie but goodie
It shows the past ave sat or act
For program
Focus on sat or act
Raise your score if you are serious
Also do some community
Ie read to elderly or bingo for mature etc
Thank you @upstream for guiding on how to get statistics for each program. I have covered most program if not all here for 2015 acceptances or 2014 acceptance, where 2015 data was not available.
Read it as follows.
In state, Out State, Total. Number of applicant, Interviewed, enrolled (This is not accepted, accepted student number could be higher) Along with GPA. SAT. ACT data for average student accepted for the program (This is not requirement, it is average of students accepted. Requirement to apply may be lower), where ever it was published. Here you go. Store it for future reference, so you don’t have to search this thread all the time.
I do not know if nj schools prefer IS or OOS. But the school dean of one feeder schools told me they have over 90% IS for UG. Over 80% IS for hornor college.
@bearchichi
21 intake seems to be way too high for Rutgers/NJMS, it sounds more like TCNJ figure as mentioned earlier. But will be glad to stand corrected from any insiders of that program from recent past.
Just now realized there can be some confusion with the RU/NJMS tagging. NJMS along with Robert wood Johnson are medical components of the larger Rutgers University. So the figure above may be referring to the total for NJMS from all feeder schools including Rutgers@Newark (a feeder school) and not from that single school itself. If that were the case, I would have expected a higher figure though, more like 30+
What to infer if we are not hearing any thing from Penn State and BU. Chances are closed for interview or still open. Reason for this uncertainty is - few or some got their interviews offered from BU and Penn State.
@GoldenRock@Empire007@anyone if we have an interview do they reconsider our whole profile ( ACT/ transcript) after the interview or mostly the interview
