<p>my3gr8boyz, hopefully the process is much better today. Who knows whether I would have still applied to Duke if I read that book first. Yes, it’s discouraging but I realize that it’s mostly a function of the competitive applicant pool and not necessarily the admissions officer’s attitudes.</p>
<p>It’s also interesting that the fate of engineering applicants is largely determined by engineering professors.</p>
<p>My son is applying to engineering, and when he heard that the engineering was more numbers driven (I told him this was from years ago…), he was happy!</p>

<p>@dukemomhopeful, the emails were sent to the applicants’ email addresses which they provided in their applications.</p>
<p>Looking at the ED results for Columbia and Dartmouth has made me really nervous :/</p>
