Official thread for the future UCSB Gauchos!

How good are you guys at BP?

wow, how good are we at BP? Is that even a question?

w00t I didnt get in :(.(sigh ignore the post of me getting in <.< i misread it) Hoping tmr UCD is good news :).

@Shibykin awww how’d you misread it? =/
i was pretty scared i had misread mine as well cuz as soon as i saw ‘You’re Admitted!’ i kinda jumped off my chair
good luck with UCD though! =]
@infectedshrooms i think acceptance at UCSB pretty much means you’re gonna be a BP pro by the end of the quarter

lol it was long message so i assumed YES :D!? XD oh well :(. Just UCD and UCB :D. Most likely I’ll be ending up at UCSD or UCD or UCB(if it says yes)

damn those are pretty good schools lol
have fun there =]

hehe i have to see if i get in either those school  first :D. Wished I got in UCSB still :frowning: (I’d be the first person out of all my friends and family friends who goes there and is asian XD)

@kwonlita: I already am a BP pro, just going to perfect my art against equally competitive peers :)

depends on the major really. As it stands they trade blows in rankings. Last year and the year before UCI was above UCSB, this year it’s below… by one point. I’d call it a wash. If I were a betting man, I wouldn’t know how to calculate the odds on which school will be on top in 10 years(though I think UCI’s new business school which is more competitive than HAAS might give it an edge)

and to be blunt, if I had unlimited funding but HAD to attend college, I’d be going for UCSB, I like hot girls and while asians are alright, I LIKE what UCSB has to offer in the opposite sex…

but I don’t have unlimited funds and I live 10 minutes away from UCI and get cheap housing a la my parents and I have a job here.

for the record, I’ve been accepted to both schools for the same major(econ).
I want you to tell me my decision is flawed now.

UCI - is in irvine… and is a commuter school. not much to do without car.

You can’t really put a price on a college experience  I’m a UCSB alum now and I do have student loans to pay off (and the rent in IV sucks, quite frankly), but I was able to get a job and the loans are worth paying off for the memories I had of undergrad and the friends I made at UCSB.

I’m actually visiting campus next month because this is the last quarter where I will still know some undergrads. I’m always excited to come back because of the changes I see in Isla Vista/campus.

@xelink: Enough with the rankings dude. Both schools are academically good, and no matter how many professional schools UCI puts up it won’t take away what UCSB has to offer.

Infact I can tell you that professional schools will not help a school which is based completely on doing research, it only adds more bureaucracy and makes the school bigger. And when it comes to schools, bigger doesn’t mean better education.

@xelink sounds like you’re choosing your college based on the girls more than anything else

isn’t that the best way to choose? I like blondes.

someone said UCI sucked. I said that from an academic stand point they’re ranked as being largely equivalent. Same with Davis.
