For me, no logouts today. Thanks
Thank you for addressing the log out issue. That was quick.
Now…how about post numbers!?
No log outs for me either but when I am on my Ipad and use the back button it is still taking me to the app when I’m on the regular website.
Spoke too soon! I just got logged out switching places. Using safari and my iPad…not the application (Emily…they are exactly the same).
Moody, thanks for posting on this thread. I appreciate that I can respond directly to you.
The reason I was agitating for daily updates was that the track record of keeping us in the loop has been pretty poor up to this point. My fear was/is that you folks will simply disappear, as you collectively did for about a month. But what you said about daily updates not being needed makes sense. Just please don’t forget that we need to know what you’re doing!
“Emily…they are exactly the same”
What is the same - the app and the website? They look completely different to me. .
Thanks, LF. My drafts are now deleted.
Another question, and I know it’s been asked and answered before, so I apologize. How do I get to my messages, both received and sent?
Still mean a phone, right? You got me to snoop around for all this. Htg, wish there were instructions.
Short version: at the bottom of many pages are icons- the globe one is Notifications.
And I think a complaint is we can’t delete them? Le me know if you find how to do that.
In this case, I meant accessing messages on a PC. I know there was a lot of discussion about it some weeks ago, but I wasn’t paying attention because I was fixated on lack of post numbers and the general cheesy look of the site.
Since my last post, I did stumble across my messages, but now can’t find them again lol. Oh well, I know they’re there somewhere. Sure would be nice if this thing were a little more intuitive.
Thanks LF.
My laptop: top right, second icon from the left is the envelope: PM icon.
Regarding daily updates:
I disagree that they’re unnecessary. What does it take - less than a minute, perhaps? - to post a quick note on the update forum letting us know what you’re working on?
If we’re going to invest the time it takes to use this site each day despite the myriad problems, I don’t think a minute of your time is too much to ask. Frankly, as miserable as it is to visit CC with this “new and improved” forum, unless I have some reason to believe that efforts are actually being made to improve the situation, why should I bother?
Even if all you have to say is that you spent 8 hours working on Problem X today, and weren’t yet able to get it fixed, that’s enough . . . and it’s 100 times better than Problem X and NO communication!
Larger Font!
A way to quote.
I’m just curious, what features did we gain with this “upgrade” and what features have we lost?
I did that by typing [ quote]Here is a quote
[/quote]
without the space between the “[” and the “q”. [ b]Bold**, [ i]Italic* [ color=Green]Green[/color]
Admin’s / Moderators listening: A pointer to a list of codes would very useful.
With regard to font, (at least in chrome and i.e.) typing ctrl + “+” (Hold the control key and type plus) will increase the font size (by zooming the web site. I currently use 125% zoom. For the white space haters, this does make for fewer posts per screen.
If you mean increasing the font in your post, haven’t yet figured that out. It used to work.
Firefox: View->Zoom->Zoom Text Only
IE: View->Text Size->Larger or press <ctrl>=</ctrl>
Chrome: open the menu, use the Zoom item.
They only affect the website you are currently on, not every website you browse to.
This has been addressed in the past, there will never be one-click quoting, because including everything in a reply is usually unnecessary and excessive, and leads to replies that have multiple other replies included in them.
We can only use the quote tag and cut and paste.
[ size=1]1[/size]
[ size=2]2[/size]
[ size=3]3[/size]
[ size=4]4[/size]
[ size=5]5[/size]
[ size=6]6[/size]
[ size=7]7[/size]
[ size=8]8[/size]
Guess I figured size. Seems like 3 is default, 1 and 2 are smaller and 7 is max
I navigate via “latest posts.” I found that if I look at a pinned post, it goes to the top of my latest posts and stays there. I can get rid of it by hovering until the gear appears and then clicking on Dismiss, but what does that do? Does it hide it forever? I would like it to appear in order of the other latest posts.
And the google, of course, knew all along:
<a href=“https://www.geeklog.net/forum/bbcode.html[/url]”>https://www.geeklog.net/forum/bbcode.html</a>
:">
Seemed like this needed a gratuitous emoticon at this point
[noparse]
[/noparse]
Unfortunately, the noparse tag no longer works, which is the one that made it really easy to show how to use the bbcodes.
As for different font sizes and colors within one post - Just say no. [-( [-X
-Get rid of the obnoxious “post edited by” in red for minor edits. We should have a small window to fix typos and whatnot.
-Get rid of the shaming methods on here: the new bars, the bright red “X has been warned for this post”
Both give the board a more hostile feel IMO and less like a community.
