^^ Agree … don’t like the shaming tactics.

@Midhelper
I thought of something we gained from the upgrade … No 10 char minimum required to post a reply. Does that count as a positive? Well, it’s something.

Can someone explain what gets shames and what gets jail? I looked at one poster with this and nothing jumped out at me, nothing seemed to have an edit note, so far as I could see.

I’d love to see any data about the change in visits/posts from pre-change to post-change. The College Life forum has been pretty much dead for over a month. It’s usually rather active. Maybe this is normal for February? I don’t know.

On second thought, I agree with you, dodgersmom. It would literally take one minute of one person’s time to drop in and give an update, even if that update is “We’re still working on X. Next up is Y.”

^ I’m afraid some of that would be an illusion. Not all computer issues are resolved in a linear way. Murphys laws abound.

I’ve asked about this, too, including addressing this question to the mods. No answers (guess the mods, even though just volunteers, have to toe the CC party line). I’m going to just assume that page views and posts are way down post-changeover. If it were otherwise, I’m sure we would have been informed!

As promised, we will continue with the updates whenever we have relevant news to share. I’ve just posted an update in the official thread. Thanks!

I’ve noticed this but only saw it for what it is, yesterday: when I post, I don’t see it placed in the proper order. If someone else posted in the meantime, I have to refresh, to see that. In the past, I could preview and see who else had spoken up, decide if I should edit accordingly. OR, I could delete my words or change my mind.

Now, any start to a post sticks with us- you have to go to Drafts and delete, as said above. A pain.

Thanks for your help.
I understand I can zoom in my browser (Safari in my case) but I just feel like the CC forums are really hard on the eyes now. Maybe I am just old -sigh. The white is really bright and the font is not bold enough for me.

I did not know that about the “push button” quotes. I post on another forum. disboards.com and they have push button quoting, post numbers, a little symbol so you can tell if you have posted on a thread. It seems much easier for me to use.

I understand - the reason I like to quote is so I can answer a specific question from a specific post or poster. I guess I can just use their user name.

Ok, looks like you can still embed the user name in the quote tag:

[ quote=veruca]I understand - the reason I like to quote is so I can answer a specific question from a specific post or poster. I guess I can just use their user name.
[ /quote]

and kill the extra space.

This would be so much easier with noparse.

cool -thanks

But we still get posters who manually quote long passages or the entire.

It’s been a long problem. It’s still a problem.

Hi Moody208- All I really want to know is–any plan to allow users to subscribe to sub-forums (like specific colleges), or to show on the forum list when the most recent posts were in the sub-forums?

Having to click on each individual college to see if there are new posts has been the breaking point for me, as well as has rendered this site practically useless. (Which is really unfortunate, as I visited daily before, as well as recommended it to others). Thanks!

Ok so I’ve now started having to click post comment 2-3 times each time because it’s saving a draft and won’t let me post.

Please, please, PLEASE let us opt out of automatic draft saving.

Can someone explain to me what the little orange fire icon means? It is found to the left of every thread title.

Emilybee, when I hit the iPad icon for the application, it takes me to exactly THIS format…the one through Safari. They look the same. The OLD application looked different. When I did the iTunes update, I got an application that is the same as going through safari.

I really LIKED the application that they released in November. I liked the navigation tools, and the front screen, everytime out it. And the font WAS larger.

I’ve noticed that too, romani. I have to click Post Comment at least twice, sometimes more. That’s new.

ETA – Only on my android phone. The PC doesn’t seem to have the problem.

ETA II – Nope, just happened on my PC as well.

Moody, I hope they are looking at giving us a 5-minute grace period to edit without the notification, like we used to have. And I hope they’re looking at something a little more subtle than bright red, for the edit notification.

“Like we used to have…” Moody, were you ever a CC user before? Do you have any familiarity with what the site used to look like and how it used to function?
