***OFFICIAL THREAD TO REPORT PROBLEMS OR MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT NEW CC SITE

Is there a reason we can only perform a search of one year’s worth of posts? I miss the search from the beginning of time feature…I am looking for some travel advice that was posted on some older threads but it seems that unless I know what year it was posted, I am SOL. That was a REALLY useful function.

I also miss the Google option to search within CC-- it would often find things for me that the CC internal search would not.

moody, I wondered what you’re working on now, so I went to the Official Updates thread. It seems you’ve addressed the things you listed in your OP there.

So what’s going on now?

Post numbers! When are we getting these back!?

I don’t see any point (sorry for the pun) in the point system. One can’t see their points unless they go to the profile page. And really, I don’t care how many points I or anyone else has.

@countingdown I think one time I did an advanced search and you can specify date range to search. I only did this once so I don’t fully remember.

Why when we search a school’s name or something are the hits not in chronoligical order?or maybe they are in order of latest post date?

Still no answer as to what the “fire” symbol means?

I can set a date in search, but the option for the length of the search is only 12 months.

I think the fire means it’s a hot/trending thread.

Now I am getting banner ads again. And again, based on something I looked up on google. Lots of anti-banner on my laptop.

Yeah but how does that flame get put on there because I have seen in some forums way more posts etc and it doesn’t have the flame and these CC problem ones have way fewer posts and it does have a flame.

Does anyone know if it is possible to delete PMs now and if so, how?

I have a new problem. It started yesterday. About half the time, I post a reply AND it posts just fine.BUT it also saves as a draft. I am posting from my iPad, and cannot delete this draft…a duplicate to my already posted post.

To the poster above me…NO. You cannot delete PMs.

A couple of times when I wrote out my reply and hit to post comment - a light bulb appeared in the bottom left to say there was a problem. I had to refresh and my entire message was gone. If you get that error message you should immediately copy your message because it will be lost. I had to log back in. I just posted a couple of minutes ago and it didn’t happen so I don’t get it.

moody, you posted this last Friday the 7th:

… and we haven’t heard from you since, except to instruct a poster to PM you.

All of the issues you listed in your first post on the Official Updates thread have been dealt with. Please tell us you’re not going silent again. Can’t we have a list of upcoming fixes? It can’t be that difficult.

Do you think if we send moody detailling our issue with his not responding, he’ll respond? =))

Anyway, I’ve started having this new issue: randomly in the middle of typing a post, I’ll no longer be able to type and the box will become unclickable. Once it gets done saving its draft (a minute or two later), I’ll be able to resume typing.

I’ve never had this issue anywhere else.

Also, I’ve just deleted about 50 drafts… some from over a month ago! I often type out responses and then choose not to post them or realize I’ve misunderstood what was being asked. Even when I erase them, the draft remains. I actually have to go and manually delete them.

We have not gone silent! As said, whenever there are relevant updates, I will make sure to inform you asap. Thank you for the patience!

Thanks for replying, moody, but that doesn’t exactly answer the question. Are you not working on anything “relevant” at this point? If not, what ARE you working on? When can we expect to see some of the commonly-requested improvements, like post numbers, forum bookmarks, etc.

And why the mystery? It can’t be that hard to give us a simple list of issues that are being/will be addressed.

Ahh…it has taken a while for it to sink in, but I “get” it now! Thanks to the posters above that talked about the amount of “clicks”. Am I understanding it correctly that the more I click on the website, the more money CC gets? So that is why my request to either a) let people subscribe to sub-forums (like a particular college) OR b) show a “recent posts” column next to the colleges on, for example, the Top CC Universities list will never be done? Is this because CC gets more money if I have to go in and click each individual college instead of showing where there are recent posts?

If this is the case, I can see why you won’t allow sub-forum subscriptions…but I have to tell you that you would still benefit from a "most recent’ column. I don’t have the patience to keep coming back and clicking more more than say 2 top college choices of ours to see if there is anything new…but I would click on other colleges that caught my eye if I saw they had new posts.

Would love to see ANY response as to whether this issue is even remotely being consider.

Thanks!

@Midhelper @CountingDown The Fire symbol refers to a “Featured Thread.” These are threads that moderators/admins mark as featured within a category or sitewide.

Here are some tips on using the new bookmarking system that may help you keep up to date on threads you post in or are interesting in know about replies in.

Q: How do I bookmark a thread?
Click the Star icon on a thread to Bookmark it. Bookmarking a thread will subscribe you to updates made to that thread from other users. You will receive pop up notifications when a user comments on the thread and updates in your notifications page: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/profile/notifications</a>
You can also edit your over all communication preferences here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/profile/preferences</a>

Q: How do I find my bookmarked threads?
In the left hand navigation, Click My Bookmarks

Q: How do I remove a bookmark?
Unstar a thread to unbookmark.

Here is a tip on replying to a user without needing to quote or reference a post number.

Q: How do I mention a user in a reply?
When posting a comment, you can use the “@” + username to mention a user.
Example: @dbraud
This will notify the user of your mention in their notifications and with a pop up notification on their screen. They will also get an update in their notifications page: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/profile/notifications</a>

This is a very real time way of interacting with other users and letting them know that you may have answered a question they posted previously.

Well. Sometimes I get a pop-up, sometimes not. Notifications and messages. I also have no idea how to clear the Notifications flag- often, I have already seen the comment or message, but the red number stays unless (it seems) I go link to it via Notifications.
