Official UC Irvine Fall 2017 Transfer Applicant Thread

@BackNSchool83 I wondered about catalog rights, but was told that did not apply to non-enrolled students. The way I was told is that those catalog rights pertain to the year of enrollment. Would you kindly be able to provide a link or any idea of where to find this information? It would be extremely helpful to have. Thanks.

Well what I know is that as a transfer, my catalogue rights extend 2 years prior to transfer, even though I was still in my CC at the time. I don’t have a link, it’s what an academic advisor told us at UCI. You can message your admissions counselor through the portal, or call admissions to find out exactly where things stand.

Good luck btw!

Does anyone know if your TAG is rescinded if your GPA dips below a 3.4 from your spring grades? It’s higher than a 3.4 including Fall 2016, but this semester is looking icky. Technically, you would be accepted before the spring semester ends.

@loyalfan49 UCI tends to release Admissions information at the end of April.
@justinmega1 I’m not sure if it will be rescinded (since it will have already been approved and you would have already SRI’d to the campus) but I know that TAG is very picky when it comes to GPA. I had a friend that’s TAG was denied for being 0.01 lower than needed.

Thank you!!!
Overall GPA:3.347

IGETC: no
ECS: a few clubs (vice pres) part time work. Essays kind of strong.
TAG: None as of yet
And btw
Btw guys a few of my courses like discrete math don’t articulate for some reason to irvine( articulate to other UC’s) do you think it will matter?
Since its the same thing. Also how many cs courses to they actually require? 1 year of any objc oriented programming?

@loyalfan49 I know if a course doesn’t articulate, you can show them your course syllabus to the CS Major reps and if the class qualifies, they will articulate it.
One year of OOProgramming so 2 semesters worth of CS courses.

@shooguu thanks! Im sure i meet the reqs (if they count my objc c++ class)

We are about a month out from when you should start hearing back. Are the CSUs releasing their admissions ? Actually I bet most are out, seems like they notify first… Anyone have a few CSUs as backup

Hey guys, I’m super nervous about these decisions.
GPA: 3.64
Tag: UCSB
Major: Psych and Social Behavior
Pre-reqs: Completed
IGETC: Completed
EC: Ehh, decent

@BackNSchool83 I heard from all my CSU’s already.
Just waiting on UC’s and LMU. It’s such a long waiting process!

@BackNSchool83 For CSUs: SJSU (accepted) and CP SLO (No Determination)

I’m still waiting on whether CP SLO will accept, reject, or waitlist me.

I’m a Business Admin major looking to concentrate in accounting.

You should be fine 5HisLife that GPA should be enough to get you into PSB in my opinion, I’d give you like 80% odds you get in. Only reason you wouldn’t would be if a ton of people TAGed for PSB or a ton of people with really high GPAs were trying to get in, but PSB is a big program and I highly doubt you wouldn’t be admitted.

Cool good to hear filmfiend and LongRun. At least you have some backups. CP SLO is a very tough school to get in, I have a cousin going there right now actually and I’m aware of how they are with admissions, it’s just selective. If any of you applied at UC Riverside … my sense was that they take a lot of people with lower GPAs too, so if you need to get in a UC they are a more sure backup.

@BackNSchool83 Do you have any information to offer about UCI’s Film and Media Studies program? Is it mostly just history based and no production type education? Also, do you know if UCI makes lower GPA exceptions (still above 3.0 but below 3.4) if UCI is your local school?

I am waiting for the decision. UCI just asked for my financial aid document
GPA: 3.72
major GPA 3.79
Tag: UCI
Major: Computer Science
Pre-reqs: Completed
IGETC: Complete this Spring
EC: Working as an IT helpdesk - full-time job(night shift), I am a full-time student as well

Please chance me.

@kkus2013 Isn’t tag a guarantee as long as your gpa is >3.4 and you have all the prereqs completed? So then wouldn’t you be 100% admitted?
