@justinmega1 Yes, It should be a guarantee, but UCI doesn’t like Davis, UCD send out TAG approval, and UCI doesn’t provide any info until late April.
Hey guys! I know I’m kind of late to the game, but could you chance me?
Major: Chemistry
Major GPA: 3.53 (I got a C in Calc 1 and Zoology. Amazing what it can do to the GPA. I did get an A in OChem, though )
Cumulative GPA: 3.67
IGETC: Complete
TAG: Davis
EC: -Chemical biology research project with a professor involving drug design
-I also am a coauthor on an in-progress peer-reviewed paper, soon to be published
-I presented this research at the Cal State fair and a few research symposia
-Tutored college Gen Chem and HS Chem, Adv. Chem, Bio, AP Bio
-Worked at a movie theater
-Was the VP of Membership for Phi Theta Kappa
-Student Senate Pres as a Senior in High School
I also applied to Irvine, LA, Berkeley, and Davis
I know the arts school is pretty cool, but I don’t know how good the film program is. I actually have a certificate of achievement in television production from PCC, but it’s tough to get to a good spot in that industry today, but it all depends on what you want to do. The big film and TV school would be UCLA I think, but I don’t know about UCI.
What are my chances of getting in? I’m super nervous

@Shajaat
Here’s where @BackNSchool83 gathered GPA & Majors of those who posted that they got accepted to transfer last Fall:

So I’ve been reading up on some stuff about tag and just recently I came across “Earn a minimum GPA of 3.4 in all UC transferable coursework by the end of the summer 2016 term for fall 2017 admission and will maintain a 3.4 GPA in all UC transferable coursework for all subsequent terms.” Especially the “all subsequent terms” part. Apparently some people got denied for tag because their term GPA was below 3.4 but their cumulative GPA was over 3.4. Some people say “all subsequent terms” means cumulative but others say for each term. Does anyone know what UCI means when they subsequent terms. Thanks
I’ve always understood that to mean your overall gpa can’t drop below the requirement after you’ve been accepted, or you’ll be rescinded. I’m pretty sure I had all B’s in my last semester and had no issue with TAG (3.7 overall).
This was in 2015. Idk if anything has changed.
JUST GOT ADMITTED!!!

Once @shooguu posted, I immediately checked my portal and found that I too was admitted!!!

Congrats to others who got in (and will get in) and hopefully we can all rest easy about college decisions too enough!
@plsacceptmeUCs I wonder why they released admissions so early this year
@plsacceptmeUCs OH AND CONGRATS!! Sorry I’m really excited haha
@shooguu maybe it was because we tagged? idk I was pretty surprised as well, I thought UCI decisions were released April 1-30. did you just check your portal consistently?
@plsacceptmeUCs
No I heard UCSD was admitting some people already so I just decided to check all my portals. So I might’ve been accepted a few days back.
Admitted!
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Major GPA: 3.7
Overall GPA: 3.7
TAG: Yes
IGETC: YES
Major Prep: Done by Spring 2017
@shooguu Oh I see. Congrats to you as well!! lol
Just got admitted!!!
Major: Computer science
Overall GPA: 3.49
TAG: Yes
IGETC: Yes
I took 3 CS classes( Intro to computer science, Intro to programming with C++, and Data Structures and Algorithms with C++). Due to the “Introduction to Computer Science courses do not count for meeting the 1 year of CS transfer requirement” line on Assist.org, I was worried they wouldn’t count both Intro to computer science and Intro to programming with C++, thus resulting in me not meeting the year of CS. However, they did!
Admitted!
Computer Science & Engineering
Transferrable GPA: 3.48
TAG: Yes
IGETC: Yes
It looks like only TAG students are being admitted so far. Congrats to everyone!
Congratulations, I hope you accept admission and become a fellow anteater ! We have a pretty cool reddit community that stay in touch, check it out if interested you guys https://www.reddit.com/r/UCI/. Looks like the TAG admits are starting, this is way earlier than last year I believe so that is a great sign that they are on top of it this year. A record number of applications came into UCI for fall 17, placing UCI in 3rd place for most applications behind Berkely and UCLA. I hope you get a chance to come visit the campus sometime before you start, it’s a beautiful place and very relaxing. I’m not going to track the stats for this cohort, but if someone else here does that will help so that we know who is getting in and with what background. Cheers, and Zot zot !
