@khanam DS got the Gator Nation Scholarship- had a 2250/1510, 3.9 UW/4.7W. Lots of EC and leadership.
My son got the Sunshine Scholarship today ($16K/year) which is for OOS students. However, we are former FL residents and have the Florida Prepaid making him “in state” for tuition purposes only. Hmmmmm…
OOS son received Sunshine Scholarship via email. Class rank 3/248, 3.97 UW, 2,100/1490, pretty cool.
got the gator nation (20k/yr) scholarship! OOS student
@1S1Dforcollege ah - very similar stats/EC/leadership profile for my daughter (3.95/4.6/Full IB, Salutarian 2230/1490) . she is considered in-state by UF for admissions because i am a florida resident and she is a claimed dependent on my taxes (even though she lives OOS with her mom) so does not qualify for OOS scholarships. However, since she did not graduate from a florida high school, she is not eligible for all the Brightfutures, Gator Nation or other florida HS scholarships. Kind of miss out from both sides. Lovely.
@bs1021 wait what? so that makes it almost free for you? lol congratulations!
Daughter got the presidential scholarship! She is thrilled! I didn’t know they did anything for instate students. I am wondering if it can be stacked with the NMF scholarship. I guess we will find out!
How many students are typically accepted into the honors program?
Read an article that honors is about 3,200 students. I assume they accept a higher number due to yield so 3,200 / 4 /.42 = about 2,000 acceptances. That’s about 13% of apps. Just a guess though it might be higher since not everyone who is offered honors and enrolled in UF accepts honors so maybe it’s 15%?
Hoping that my daughter gets an admission scholarship- how were you notified?
I was notified by email yesterday.
This is late, but…

Not sure how this will play out as he’s in state for tuition purposes as we’ve got the Florida prepaid - yet we got the OOS scholarship. Have to call the school and see what the deal is.
@bs1021 You really should call. Keep in mind, one of the “stealth” advantages of Florida Prepaid (if you purchased it before 2007 or so), and that is they can’t charge you the “Tuition Differential” fee, which is about $45 an hour or a little less than 22-23% of the overall tuition rate. So your in-state tuition gets discounted first, and then Prepaid kicks in to pay (the amount based on the plan you purchased, does it include fees, etc.).
Good news! We are at the UF Florida Days event and asked… Confirmed…PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP IS STACKABLE WITH FIS!!!
Did they mention when financial aid packages would be sent out?
Does anyone know how many they accept for honors? I applied on time and think my essays were good–ECs were anything extraordinary and my W GPA is a little low for accepted honors students. However, I’m hoping my 2260 SAT will help my case (I think 2180 was 75th percentile for admitted UF honors students last year).

Is UF your first choice? I have no clue. I really like it but have yet to visit.
Other schools you applied for: Alabama, University of Arizona, LSU, UTennessee-Knoxville, UUtah, University of S. Carolina, UGA (Counsellor didn’t finish her part on early action so I was deferred and I didn’t apply regular), Ole Miss
Major/Field of Study: Communications-Advertising
Comments: I was shocked I got in. I had all but counted UF out, I didn’t bother checking my status, when I got an acceptance e-mail. I can’t wait to visit in a few weeks, if it’s anything like it is online then I’ll be a Gator come August!
@lcgusa I want to say about 700 or so freshman, was a number that rings a bell for the number admitted to the honors program. Keep in mind that many students that qualify for honors, don’t apply.
@maryle Financial aid packages will go out at the end of the month.
