Official UMBC Early Action Thread- Class of 2017

Just got my merit aid letter in-today. Wasn’t what I was looking for. Don’t think I’ll be able to attend the school… community college now.

I got the presidential scholars award which was 15,000 dollars( I’m an OOS from NY.) And UMBC says we can’t stack scholarships(since I applied to Sondheim as well.) I thought I was going to be offered more, especially considering the fact that UMBC is supposedly very generous with merit aid. I am going to wait and see what is offered in March but I will most likely not be attending, since as an OOS it would be too expensive, and I have received better financial offers. Good luck everyone!

Son received the Premier Scholarship of $22K per year. Wow – we were both expecting some kind of merit, but didn’t think it would be that high! He definitely wants to come back and have a second look at this school. During his visit, he loved the diversity on campus, its STEM focus, and the emphasis on the undergraduate while still having access to research. Wasn’t too small – wasn’t too large.

congratulations mtown27
I got the same award. Now I am seriously considering going to UMBC.

What states are you guys from who received scholarships?

^ New Jersey

Virginia here :)

received the centennial scholarship of $20k a year! So much more than I was expecting! really excited at the idea of maybe going there in the fall!

I was deferred from Early Action, but accepted Regular Decision. I have accepted my admission and will be joining the UMBC Class of 2017!! I’m super excited! They are my number one choice.

Now, when do they start throwing money my way? ;)

I live in Maryland and have gotten nothing… They should start helping us out!

Congrats, books2013, on your acceptance!

My son will major in Chemistry and got offered a Principal’s Scholarship to UMBC for $6K/yr. and also is attending the Meyerhoff selection weekend (fingers crossed).

He was also accepted into the Scholars program at UMD and was offered a full ride scholarship there from the Air Force ROTC.
