@eriche1214 - Yes, I’ve been accepted to Cornell, but Chapel Hill holds this odd sweet spot in my heart. UNC was one of my top choices last year, but I didn’t get in. I would love to be accepted. And haha, I don’t feel safe having two PIDs, but that would be funny if yet another ‘crack in the system’ was detected this year.

I just tried the PID page again and now I’m getting an “Oracle DB error.” lol

Checked the Portal and decision is still unavailable.

EDIT - Looked on the PID main page.

“I have a PID, Does that mean I am admitted?
The issuance of a PID does not indicate that you have been or will be admitted to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.”

Person ID (PID) - Auxiliary Services;

Well I discovered the “crack”. I am only getting 1 PID number. I wouldn’t say 1 PID number means accepted/rejected or 2 PID numbers mean accepted/rejected. These numbers could depend on any number of unknown variables. Besides it isn’t the end of the world if you aren’t accepted to UNC. I feel fairly confident that I will be successful in my field regardless of the university that I attend. Saying which I wish everyone the best of luck! But I wouldn’t worry too much about 1 PID vs 2 PID numbers. The fact is none of us can create an account yet.

@Thurston, I agree that the number of PIDs an applicant has is probably insignificant at this point, and cannot be used as an indicator with regard to what our personal decision will be. And if the ‘crack’ turns out to actually be one, you get all the credit, no worries.

thurston12- I agree with u. That probably means nothing. Anyway I can’t wait any more…

Haha, no I don’t deserve any credit. Anyone could have found this. We are all very eager to find out. I hope like the rest of you that they stay with T/TH tradition and let us know our decisions today! Whether I am accepted or rejected I’ll be relieved once I know. I’ll either go to UNC, or go to the other schools I’m applying for. We should know soon either way…

yeah I’m just ready to get in crazy celebration mode or depression mode, depending on the results… even being depressed is better than being this anxious.

Cheeky take either of your PID numbers and try to make an onyen account. Even if we were accepted and these are our Student ID numbers they may not allow us to make an account until we pay an enrollment fee… but try anyways.

i only have one! this is not good…

crand91, we established we can’t conclusively say anything about having 1 PID vs 2 PID numbers… there isn’t enough information to accurately access anything yet.

I repeat,

“I have a PID, Does that mean I am admitted?
The issuance of a PID does not indicate that you have been or will be admitted to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.”

It means nothing. Calm down, everyone.

I was not able to creat an account with either of my PIDs.

@meilliem - We understand that we all have one - that’s evident from information given on each of our myUNC accounts. It’s the fact that some of us have two PIDs that are making us questions things.

And, ok, Thurston, going to go try it now.

i know but still, i think it prob means something. think about it: every applicant receives a temporary PID. upon rejection, that PID is probably deactivated. if you have another, maybe it means that they gave you a permanent one so that when your applicant PID is deactivated, you still have one for being an admitted student to unc. i know nothing is definitive at all yet, but im just saying, logically it makes sense (especially since cheeky’s into cornell!). but this is all paranoid speculation…only time will tell!

You don’t get your real PID until you enroll.

The fact that they included that statement about not having to do with acceptance clearly shows they’re ahead of that kind of thinking and have implemented whatever is necessary to prevent it from being a crack in the system.

Believe it.

I still don’t feel we should be treating it as any kind of indicator of acceptance. Creating false hope and further anxiety won’t benefit anyone.

truth. my b haha im just dyinggg over here

I just tried both PID numbers, and neither of them worked for creating an Onyen account.

@crand - Lol, I don’t view my being accepted to Cornell as any kind of comfort in thinking I will be accepted to Chapel Hill. Two different schools…

And all we can do is wait. Although this little uproar this morning did pass some time.

Hahaha, yeah. I’m in class right now. I’m probably gonna get on cam. and broadcast on a webcam site. You all should watch. :)

i know they are so different, but the bottom line is they are both fab schools! my ****** (and i dont use the term lightly) ex bf goes to cornell though, so im biased haha def go to unc:)
