Official University of Chicago 2020 Waitlisted Applicants Thread

@azwu331 Where did you find this information? Was it published by UChicago? 78% is abnormally high.

@custardheart the 78% is just an estimate for the proportion of people on the uchicago thread that were waitlisted not for all uchicago applicants

So many waitlisted. I was too. Kind of surprised since I BSed my application last minute haha. Applied to Uchicago has a last minute “why not?” school. Decided to stay on the waitlist because again, Why not?
Wanna see the stats for waitlist tho

I’m really looking forward to seeing stats on this year’s applicant pool. Interested to see the number waitlisted v. number of total applicants…

I also got waitlisted haha. This year must have lots of amazing candidates

I did! I got waitlisted by Uchic also…

when do you all think this years stats is gonna come out ?

I don’t think UChicago ever releases info on waitlists? Either way, just looking at the results thread…I dunno. It seems like EVEYONE was waitlisted.

Sup guys. 3.1 GPA here. 2170 SAT. 800 US, 750 LIT

yikes. when did last years waitlist decisions come out? cc said it can be anywhere from early May to late June… I’m hoping it’s the former

I can’t seem to find the results thread anymore. Can anyone link to it?

Hey guys! I got waitlisted at Uni of Chicago as well. To be honest, I was quite amazed, because I thought I was going to get rejected with my stats.

My daughter is thrilled to be wait listed for such a prestigious college!

I can’t believe how many waitlists there are…

hi friends, any one know how many people have been accepted from the waitlist in the past?

@kae791 , from the data reported on niche, last year ~2k ppl accepted waitlist spots and 100 ppl got accepted… the chances are grim

I understand the need for a waitlist. But can someone please explain to me the need to waitlist well in excess of 2,000 people for what they know will be 100 or even 200 spots.

Does the admission staff not have time to narrow down the waitlist by March 16th?

Is it a marketing ploy so that top students continue to tell others that they are on Chicago’s waitlist, thus keeping Chicago’s name a topic of discussion

I
