It was the president’s. I’m in honors, but I’m not sure if that’s relevant to the scholarship.
I’m OOS, so I’m happy I got anything. The scholarship makes this school, at the very least, possible.

Anyone who’s received the presidential scholarship, would you mind posting your stats?

Sure thing!

After you are accepted. Do you have to send your response (confirm you will attend university of Maryland) before they send you the package with scholarship?

No, Letty. You should receive financial aid info soon (assuming you applied for it). You dont have to respond until May 1 (but NO LATER!)

[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: They saw the potential and bit
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:

[/ul]General Comments: If you are URM and in a good school or a magnet program, work hard if you want that scholarship money but if not then the general scores and/or grades rule will apply for URMs. Didn’t get into HOnors College or Scholars but I never expected to since I would be a risk from their point of view and they would be much safer giving the usual 3.8er a spot in those slots

It’s too bad you didn’t have a higher GPA, you could have gotten into almost any school

That is true, in retrospect I should have paid more attention and hammered down
I am hoping though I can make up for it in graduate school or even transfer after the first year or second by keeping a high GPA and juxtaposing that and high school

I applied for the regular decisions deadline (January 20) and I haven’t heard ANYTHING from UMD. No email, nothing in the mail… nothing. Nothing on my portal either. Looks just as it did when I first applied. I know the absolute latest I have to hear from them is April 1st, but I’m starting to get worried because I’ve had absolutely no contact from them.

Also, should I be checking my portal for the final decision? If so, where can it be found? Or does it come through snail mail?

Slightly off topic, but not sure where else to post my question. My D and I will be visiting UMD next week and need a recommendation of where to stay. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

UMD college park is my absolute dreams school and I got accepted as I just found out through the portal. No doubt about it I will be UMD College Park class of 2017

@USNChief
“A cautionary tale for students and parents considering University of Maryland - College Park”
I understand your stand point and I think it was caused be error on both ends. UMD only printed the specific major on the online version of the acceptance letter and not the paper version, so this would have caused confusion to those who didn’t look at the online copy first. That being said, I think the fact that you were surprised by this shows that you didn’t do enough research on your part. If you look on UMD’s website, they clearly state the requirements and restrictions of applying to UMD and their method of notification.

Jast a little disclaimer, I have no intention of offending anyone, just merely pointing out things here.

@dean3326, @carop4. Did you guys apply for the priority or regular decision? I applied for the regular decision but have not yet been notified of my admission decision.
