OFFICIAL University of Maryland Fall 2013 Transfer

The articulation agreement has an out for schools like college park because they always get more applications than there are slots for transfers, read line 4 –> http://www.dsd.state.md.us/comar/comarhtml/13b/13b.06.01.02-1.htm

hence the language "In accordance with Maryland Higher Education Commission and Board of Regents transfer polices , certain applicants from Maryland public institutions are given special consideration and are admitted when space is available.

They aren’t bound by the policy (which is not a law to begin with). I have in fact called the MHEC to talk specifically about it and they were very friendly, but they told me exactly what I just posted above.

That said, I was told in person on two different occasions, by two different admissions counselors, if you graduate from a MD CC AND you have a 3.0 or greater cumulative gpa, you’re in. (paraphrase- they couldn’t remember anyone in recent memory who had been rejected with that criteria).

tl;dr As long as you meet the requirements (written) AND have a cumulative over 3.0 (unwritten), you’re golden.

Well, going off of earlier threads our (Regular transfer) decisions may be coming out by the end of the week or next. This will be the third time I’m applying to Maryland. Let’s see if the third time’s the charm.

@johnjon

Best of luck. Hopefully this time is the charm!
I’ve been waiting on my admission decision all summer; it would be nice if we hear something by the end of the week. I am holding off on my enrollment to American University until I hear back from Maryland.
Let me know when you hear back.

I’m also waiting on my decision. I’ve been trying not to think about it, but now that decisions are coming out soon, I’m stressing a little bit.

Good luck to all the regular decision applicants!! :)

Update:

Woke up this morning to find a Housing and Dining Form button on my UMD page. No decision yet. Can any other applicant waiting confirm this as well?

I’m a little giddy but I still want to prepare for the worse. Happy 4th.

The Housing and Dining Form appeared for me overnight too. It definitely wasn’t there yesterday, though when I checked last night I did notice the date on my application had changed to yesterday’s date. I’m optimistic, but also trying not to get too excited…just in case it’s not the news I’m hoping for.

The housing and dining form does not mean anything, but if you are accepted and are staying on campus I would recommend submitting it ASAP for best consideration in what housing is left.

Spoke with a rep not too long ago. She says the first wave of decisions should roll out today after they close(4:30). So check your emails.

cryan19: Yeah, I figured as much. I won’t bother with my form since I’ll commute if admitted.

Good luck to the waiting applicants.

@johnjon - Really? Now I’m nervous. Good luck everyone! I’m commuting also.

Don’t be nervous. I know that’s easy for me to say, but it makes the process faster and easier if you aren’t nervous.

Hey, so I’m a current undergraduate student at UMBC looking to transfer to UMD but, I’m starting to get extremely nervous.

I was wondering if any of you know what the “application status: completed on 7/6/13” mean…this wasnt the date before so does this mean they’ve finished fully reviewing all my information?

I think it just updates every day if I remember correctly.

Oh okay thanks! I’m assuming no one has reviewed an e-mail or anything yet?

I was an early decision applicant, so I got mine like a few months ago lol, but it should not be too much longer

I have a feeling about tomorrow or Tuesday.

I got in! :)

Congatulations!!

I got in, just found out now. Does anyone know how long it takes to receive financial aid info?

I guess the third time’s a charm. Hello Clark School of Engineering.
