***Official University of Michigan Class of 2015 Decisions Thread***

i’d believe it but i don’t go to either of those schools :frowning: i go to a school just a few minutes south of campus

mgoblue- I’ve heard that as well, but I can’t remember where. I think it does significantly help your chances though.

Has anyone else not been able to focus in school ( homework, studying , etc.), like me, because all you think about is getting this admission decision?

( this will be the first decision I get back)

^Well that would be a problem for you wouldn’t it since it seems we won’t be hearing back for another 21 days.

god, let’s just hope they have a smaller class size (I can say that cuz I’m not waiting for a decision, haha)

@mgoblue even if they aren’t required to take kids from huron/pioneer, i’m pretty sure they’d WANT to so its irrelevant whether they do

I think they are just told to say that the decisions come out on the 23rd. That way there can’t be held accountable. We all know that U of M will change their Early Action page if they change their policy (IE beginning of November to beginning of December). I think that if all decisions were coming out on the 23rd then the page would NOT say "We will begin reviewing completed applications in late September and we will begin releasing decisions in December. "

Won’t they just get us our decisions already?!

i know…what are they waiting for…I need to know!!!

double confirmation that admission decisions will NOT be released before 12/23…local alumni rep called 2 weeks ago to his connections and was told “everyone will hear on 12/23”…despite his report, i was still hopeful and followed everyone else’s theories on CC…“BY” 12/23, normally release on Fridays, etc…my daughter flew to AA this morning to visit her sister and accompany her friend for his first tour of U of M…during the info session they said they received 17,000 EA applications…all EA admission counselor decisions had to be submitted by noon today, now they go through the validation process, and ALL decisions will be released ON December 23, NOT BEFORE…at least this news will truly make me stop checking and I will plan to be with my daughter on 12/23 as she checks her status…hopefully with a positive result :)

Okay settle down people, you’ll hear soon enough. Decisions are coming out December 23. You’re not gonna die between now and then. If you obsess over it you’re just gonna drive yourself craze cause it doesn’t make the 23rd come any faster.

now knowing that the decision has been made makes it even worse because i know that out there somewhere is my decision.

@mgoblue315 I found out yesterday it was students from music and the arts, not LSA.

Just to clarify the whole music ordeal, INVITATIONS to audition for the music school have been released–I just received my congratulations letter today stating when my audition would be…etc…Decisions, however, are not released until after the audition. My audition is in February so I should know shortly after that time (because I applied to the music school by the early deadline of Dec. 1, I will know earlier).

I love how this was supposed to be a thread for decisions. =) haha

Not to make the thread tangent worse, but Eager, it’s true you could hear a few weeks after your audition (my son was accepted within 2 weeks of his Feb. audition/interview session) but it is also possible to NOT hear until after the last March auditions and still be successful – so don’t freak out if your decision does not come as quickly as you expect, and good luck!

For others not familiar with the SOM requirements, the congratulations letter is about academic “clearance” – meaning that IF you’re approved from the audition, you are then allowed to attend. It is not the same as an acceptance because you STILL have to audition to get in and it does not mean that you’re “in” at the school if you DON’T make the audition.

A&D, however, will be different, I think.

Does the December 23rd thing only apply to people who applied EA? What about those who applied before that deadline but applied RD? Should we not expect anything till April?

What’s the benefit to applying before the early action deadline and not applying early action?

that’s a very good question. i guess I didn’t do it because I applied ED somewhere and I would feel bad if i got in EA and they gave me a lot of money and my ED place didn’t, and I would just feel bad in general, as though I was taking somebody’s place

how does the decision release work for recruited athletes? do they find out sooner?

They’re a whole other story. A recruited athlete from our school already committed to U-M several weeks ago.
