Official University of Michigan Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

@Otemachi it was marked complete in the first week of March.

@turtletea Seriously? My application was marked as complete in late February and I haven’t heard back…I think it’s a sign that I got rejected.

Wait? What about wolverineacces? Do they post the desicion in there? I should be checking my email instead of WA??

They post the decision on Wolverine Access, send you an email, and, if you’re accepted, send you a letter through snail mail. I personally had my decision show up on WA like three days before I got the email and I received my physical letter a good week after that.

I got accepted!!! I can’t believe I did.  :)

For everyone waiting for their results, don’t lose hope. I was beyond sure I am gonna get a mass rejection email but it turned out otherwise (and for the good). I am international student and my stats are not that great – I am really overwhelmed.

GO BLUEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!

@Otemachi I was rejected as a freshman applicant and my stats hadn’t changed at all, so I was certain I was going to get rejected this time around as well. I was thinking right along your train of thought too, because earlier on this thread, someone got accepted in less time than me. @Otemachi, don’t count yourself out just yet

I got admitted too
Though, since I have really good financial aid and benefits at my current school,
Im almost positive that I wont enroll in UM… but this definitely feels great to be admitted! :)

@marianna0725, It doesn’t affect me because I’m applying to engineering; however, you might consider sending an e-mail to your counselor declining admission. As this thread as great evidence there’s a lot of people who would love to have your spot, and that might give someone the opportunity.

Hope this doesn’t come across as rude, just trying to help everyone out. Thank you, and congrats!

Hi everyone has anyone heard from the college of engineering ? I applied in for mechanical engineering .
My stats :
College gpa : 3.15(weighted)
prerequistite gpa: 3.5(weighted)
tonnes of extra curriculars
High school gpa in US standards : 3.8(weighted)
100+community service hours
Also I have a relatively difficult course pattern with high passing marks . 65 is the passing marks for my college.
I will be having a total of 79 credits after the completition of my present semester and have applied as a junior transfer. Now i know my gpa is on the lower side but while talking to the counsellor they assured me that my prerequisite gpa is what matters the most. Is that true? Can anyone chance me ? It would be great.

@aspirantasian I also applied for mechanical engineering and wait for the decision. I think school of engineering should send out their decision very late. Anyway, Just be patient and Good luck !!!

@Lyl1993 What are your stats? Also do you know as to when will they release COE decision? This wait is killing me

@aspirantasian Someone said earlier in this thread that engineers would probably start hearing late next week. I’m ME too btw, good luck. Hopefully the fact that it’s such a popular major doesn’t make it too hard to get in.

@vt2umich What are your stats? I am banking more on my diffcult course work , number of credits and my prerequisite gpa ! Hoping for the best. Also do you by any chance know as to how many people apply for mechanical engineering as a transfer and what’s the acceptance rate ?

@aspirantasian Highschool GPA: ~3.5-6 unweighted. SAT(math/reading): 1420. I’m a freshman at Virginia Tech, and I will have 60 credits here by the end of the semester, but it’s questionable how much would transfer. College GPA: 4.0. EC’s: Basically none. I got into the University of Illinois (Urbana) and I’m waiting to hear from Michigan and Stanford.

As for how many apply/get in to ME, my guess would be a lot and a little. If I remember correctly, the transfer acceptance rate for engineering as a whole is around 30%, but I couldn’t find any numbers for ME. It’s a very large department which could be a good or bad thing for prospective transfer.

@vt2umich You got some excellent stats ! Getting a 4 in college … In my college highest is 3.45 :frowning: Congratulations on your acceptances . How hard is it to get a gpa like yours? You must have studied like real hard . If other students are also as qualified as you I won’t stand a chance :P

@aspirantasian Haha, thanks. It was mostly prerequisites, but I’d be lying if I said it was easy. I lost like 10 lbs during the last 2.5 weeks of the semester, because I was so busy studying. And now that I’m in legit ME classes there’s no way I can keep that up, so I really hope I get in to Michigan this year.

Hey, if you have the prereqs done you may just get in. I think it involves a lot of luck, because almost everyone who applies to Michigan engineering is qualified.

@vt2umich Lets see what happens ! Do post when your decision comes

Does anyone know when LSA decisions are going out? My app was marked as completed on February 2nd and seeing everyone get accepted doesn’t help my anxiety.

One more question, if they see that I jumped from an 84 unweighted in high school to a 3.7 (92ish) in college, would that help. I got straight A’s in college except for one B-

Got accepted today! It’s been a long journey folks
My stats for anyone wondering:

HS GPA: 3.5
Major: Computer Science (LSA)
ACT: 32
College GPA: 3.5 from UCI
4.0 from a local community college
I think if my total GPA was calculated, it would be around 3.6 to 3.7.
Credits: 100 quarter units (around 60ish in semester units)
Previous school: A community college (transferred from UCI)
Extra Curricular: Participated in a few hackathons (my team placed 2nd and 3rd in a few), participated in some small dev club, interned at a startup, and that’s about it.

All my application material was received on 3/10

For those who have been accepted, where does the admission decision show up on the portal?
