Official University of Rochester 2016 Decision Thread

ACCEPTED, but declining admission because I am out of state and cannot afford tuition plus airfare and everything else…

HERE IS TO ALL THOSE WAITLISTED OUT THERE… have my spot :)

Good Luck

TSocash,

Are the ratios of letters sent out generally the same in each batch?

Or does waiting longer to receiver a letter mean ones chances are worse?

This final batch looks to be very WL & Deny heavy. There are still some admit letters in this batch, but not many. If you’re still waiting for your letter, you might want to brace yourself for the worst, but hope for the best.

Please realize that we received nearly 15,000 freshman applications this year (a growth of approximately 10% from last year) and our freshman class size is staying about the same ~ 1,150 students. This was the most competitive year to be an applicant applying to Rochester. Unfortunately, some stellar applicants had to be turned away based on the competitiveness of the overall applicant pool.

If you ever have any questions or concerns, the best thing to do is to give the Admissions Office a call.

Does anyone know an estimate of how many people are wait-listed/accept the wait-list/end up being accepted?

I’m thinking the best shot I have is the wait-list considering everyone’s stats who have posted.

Historically, UR takes very few people off the waitlist. (Typically under 10; some years none.)

Also be aware that UR has been need-aware in the past when it comes to pulling names off the waitlist.

[/ul]General Comments: I was expecting to get in so I’m very glad I did. I feel like my hard work paid off.

Purplehellokitty, did you get accepted through HEOP? im still waiting to hear back pretty nervous

No. I don’t qualify for any of those programs my GPA is too high and I’m not exactly academically disadvantaged at a top school. I’m pretty sure those are targeted for students in public or parochial schools

TSocash,
What about international students? Does this final “WL & Deny heavy” wave also include international students?

anyone who hasn’t got decision yet? I’m in Boston!

[li] Why you think you were accepted: i guess i connected with them.[/li][/ul]General Comments: well i expected to get in, but i didn’t expect a 13k scholarship for my piano video i sent in. I’m very grateful for that. so far this is the best school i’ve been accepted to. i got rejected from a lot of better schools so i guess this is a good match for me. i’m a little upset about so many rejections, but i guess rochester is already good and i should be more appreciative. do connect with me, as this is probably where i’m going!

edit: i didn’t mention it, but i hear from them a while ago, not recently. good luck to everyone else still waiting!
