@jakerzz97 I don’t think it happened last year. I mean there was one poster last year who said their portal wasnt working but there was no one else who said the portal wasnt working. Also they got status changes that were indicative of the packet coming in the mail… Although it seems that those ‘hints’ change a little every year or they go away after people post about them (maybe USC’s way of making sure we dont know until we get the official packet?) But last year they had USConnect while now we have a different portal youSC, so the error could mean something good but it may also be just the website being overloaded or something because the background for the error message is the same one that everyone with the blank ‘welcome’ screen had a few days ago.
@couplemoreweeks I honestly dont know… Last year when people started to figure out that the status change meant packet, USC removed the status change and everything went back to normal. However in this case, no one got anything after the news of the ‘error’ message so this error may just be because of the website being overloaded as ALL of us are logging on and off repeatedly.
And those who said they didnt have anything wrong their portal later came back on to say there was an error message… I would love this to mean something because we dont have any hints but I don’t know what it could mean… I keep jumping to conclusions and hitting rock bottom disappointed) trying to reason but not doing a great job of it either hahaha I want this so badly! (biggest understatement… haha)
@cdcupcake According to the director of admissions, the acceptance rate for people who interview is lower than the acceptance rate for those who don’t.
@couplemoreweeks I’m from NorCal. My portal keeps periodically 404’ing. Sometimes I can login, sometimes I can’t.
I’m pretty sure that @miraculouslee is lying. I mean, who abandons their CC account for 2 years account just to come and post that, and then leave. The office of admissions said we will be learning about our status in early February. I find it VERY hard to believe someone got it two weeks in advance and would come here for one day to post it. Sorry, not sorry. I’m not buying that.
Personally, I am glad USC uses snail mail. I have no idea what my son’s login info is and I don’t care to know. There is something to be said for the good old fashioned fat packets in the mail.

I think I agree with you. No one else seems to have gotten it at all, not on college confidential, and not on anywhere. I don’t know why someone would just make an account and then just leave, but I do think we will get our status earlier than February. Every year they say early February and every year it comes out a little earlier.
@CaliCash in the past, acceptances have come at this time. So it’s not so much the timing thats odd its just that they’re the only one who has posted anything about an acceptance… There are so many sites like this but in all this time I’ve only heard of one person getting accepted.
Of course they could be telling the truth… but there are so many proud parents who would be dying to post about their child’s acceptance. So the fact that there is only one is a little suspicious but we’ll know it time… To be honest I hope they are lying so that I can be comforted about not getting one yet hahaha (yes I know the percentage is small but let me dream 
)

Look, I understand that this process can be unnerving, but I think you need to be careful with those kind of accusations. Firstly, miraculouslee made her account in May 2013, and I doubt she was plotting this since then. Secondly, as madbean (probably the most helpful person on this forum said), people HAVE received their packets on the Fridays that they were sent out before. Plus, this weekend matches up with the same one last year when packets were sent. They say we will find out by early February becuase the letters for those who DO NOT receive scholarships are sent out a week or so after the ones for those who DO get them, so people can only be 100% sure by then. However, that does not mean that packets have not been sent out yesterday and that he/she was making this stuff up. Maybe you’re right, but your logic is pretty shaky.

I tried on my iPhone and got the error message about 10 minutes ago. Now, I have no error message on phone or computer. What about the rest of you? And substance of application status page has not changed at all.

You are right, but the only thing I’m a little incredulous about is the fact that she/he posted it at around 1:00. That seems way too early if you think about the USPS timetable. But hey if they got it, good for them!!

@ackack I’ve been on Chrome the entire time, but I still have an error message… Since at least 4 hours ago (when I first logged on today)
I’ll admit that it does seem more suspicious due to the fact nobody else has reported getting theirs, but if packets were sent out on Friday (which I believe they were), someone in the SoCal area getting them that very day doesn’t seem very implausible to me. Either way, I’m sure we’ll find out more soon!
Also, my portal just went from not working to working to not working again. I’m so confused.
If I am wrong, I apologize. I would’ve believed it more if it was the Dean of admissions delivering it in person. But I’ve never heard of getting mail two- three hours after it is sent.
