***Official UW Class of 2023 Decision Thread***

anyone applying for design?

Read this and the entire class of 2022 thread. I applied psychology and praying to get in. I am OOS, weighted GPA of 3.76, SAT of 1230. I hope my essay is compelling enough, it looks like everyone applying has no less than a 1400 SAT and 4.0 GPA :frowning:

@mckenzieannmarie i feel you, in kind of the same boat here. goodluck!

@mckenzieannmarie I’m also oos, have a 3.7 uw gpa, and a 1260 SAT score. Don’t loose hope! Good luck!

I am, I want to do visual communication design or industrial design.

I’m just praying I get the purple and gold award since I’m out of state ugh! Really hoping a 32 ACT + 4.21 wgpa + 7 APs + over 800 volunteer hours is enough to get me the max amount otherwise I have no ability to go…

@noah2425 I hope you are accepted AND get the max for Purple and Gold. Another potential assistance is work study. There are some great options and can pay well. Good luck.

@mckenzieannmarie I wouldn’t worry too much! SAT scores are only a factor in what UW uses to asses acceptance into the college. Other important factors they consider are essays, rigor of classes taken, EC’s, volunteer work etc. They are judging you holistically as a person and not just a set of test and GPA scores. They are going to admit students based on who they think will best benefit their campus. I read somewhere that Washington has admitted students with SAT scores from 1190-1420+. I wish everyone good luck for admittance!

Just curious. How could those universities with rolling admission could give you the decision after few weeks but UW takes about 4 months to release the decision? I mean there should be at least one reasonable reason why UW cannot be as fast as those universities. I was thinking that it would be the shortage of admission officers but then I thought I was wrong because UW would have hired more officers if they knew how desperate we are.

@kameikameika I am, I want to do visual communication design or industrial design.

Same here I really like visual communication. Fingers crossed and pray for the best!!

Y’all know what time of day UW released their decisions last year?

Any updates on when we should hear? I was hoping today or tomorrow…

@Justakid129 - I believe it was around 8:30PM PST on the Friday, last year.

@Justakid129 Last year the first post was on 3/9 around 10:30 pm. Idk if time zones have an effect on what time the posts are stamped tho

@Justakid129 As per last’s year UW decision thread in CC, #1219 was the first reported decision on that thread…the timestamp on that is March 9 10:28pm (I’m assuming ET)

Do you guys think in-state will get their decisions first? Then progressively out-of-state?

It’s so strange when they say people will hear and then after a handful of Presidential Scholars - nothing - Crickets.

@prindtx I believe the time CC shows for comments is the time it was posted in your own timezone (the computer you are browsing from). So the first admission last year was 11:28 pm EST (8:28 PST)

@AwaitingApplicant131 - Based on last year thread, OOS acceptances were posted at the same time as in-state. So if there was an order, it doesn’t seem to have been based on residence.
