@BigPapiofthree : No, not Emory…very different than those places. Much more of an academic school (and completely different academic strengths) than the others. Also, likely more selective than Tulane due to how holistic it is. Their stats may be in range, but the essays are a bit more challenging than many other places and they seem to clearly pay more attention to GPA, AP’s and EC’s than anything else. Not worth a person wasting their time thinking it is similar to Vanderbilt. It’s great, but students should find something that actually fits. If I liked Vandy, perhaps I could like Emory, but I think it is not as likely as me liking Tulane, Virginia, USC, Chapel Hill, places like that.
@Rittlemethis87 “doing everything right” does not suggest a fit for the school and also it is clearly obvious that having higher stats for places like Vanderbilt helps more so than anything else unless you have unusual EC’s (everyone calls their EC’s amazing, but are they uncommon among top students FOR THAT SCHOOL?). What you need to do now is find a slew of schools that you actually like and may fit with (perhaps ones similar socially or academically in terms of offerings to Vandy) and go for it.
@11countrymusic11 I’m sorry Vandy didn’t work out for you. It absolutely doesn’t take away anything you’ve done or what you will do at another school.
Pick up the pieces and move forward with plan B. You’re obviously a bright and ambitious student. There’s a school out there waiting for someone like you. You’ll be happy where it was meant to be and when you look back on this day in the summer of 2020 as you cross the stage getting a diploma, you’ll wonder what the fuss was all about.
@Guacamole629 Would you mind sharing the rest of your stats? Congrats btw!
After a year at another school, if Vandy is still your dream, you can always apply to transfer.
Accepted!! 33 ACT, 4.3 W GPA, pretty good EC’s. Excited to meet you all in the fall - what are y’all’s steps moving forward? Not really sure what to do next…we can’t apply for housing until April… someone needs to add me to the FB page!
@dolphindancer37 there’s a link to the group on the accepted page!
Accepted was sooo shocked!
Is there a parents FB page set up yet?
Late to the thread again, but I’m happy to say that I’ll be attending Vandy in the fall! Excited to meet everyone
rejected, 4.5 GPA 33 ACT, very happy for everyone that got in! You’ll all do amazing!

GPA was 3.76 weighted but i got over 4 second semester junior year and our school is out of 4.5.
Not much extra curriculars but i was captain of the tennis team which was my leadership position.
But i might get my application rescinded because i got a C+in ap calc ab for first semester senior year… i had three As and two B+s too…
Do you think my ED admission wilm be rescinded?
@IwanttoliveinNK They don’t need a mid-year report, just an end of year report, so do well second semester and I think you should be okay.
@collegebobollege
Yeah but sadly my school said that they will send out midyear reports regardless of what is required…
Hey guys I’m going to be applying ED2 next week. Wanted to know if anyone got in with similar stats.
ACT: 31
Superscore 32
Writing: 36
UW GPA: 4.0
W GPA: 4.12
Good but not spectacular ECs
4 AP classes because we can’t take AP classes until junior year
Also I will be applying as a biological sciences major
@sgallagher23 I got in with 31 ACT. 16 writing. 4.0 W GPA. Tons of extracurricular and 3 APs. You’ll be fine if that essay is good.
@somewheresmiling 16 writing or 36…other than my ACT score I believe that the rest of my application is very strong
hi @sgallagher23 anything is possible. I think it all comes down to things that are simply out of our control.
I was rejected ED1 with…
ACT: 33

Writing: 35
SAT Subject Math2: 770
GPA: 4.0
