Official Vanderbilt ED1 Class of 2020 Discussion Thread

Doubt it, they have no reason to because if they accept you you’re going

@vonnegut98 I am in the same position! Make sure to let your admissions counselor know that your new scores are on their way :slight_smile:

are first quarter grades required to be sent for ED1?

@supersuper2868 Nope!

Hey Guys! I want to submit another recommendation to Vandy, but my recommender only completed it today. Will Vandy still accept this rec?

just send it and let them decide if they will consider it or not. With thousands of applicants, things don’t always shake out exactly. (I was a bit surprised by how many teachers submitted RD references after winter break was over for instance-- in early January). For RD kids, it is not uncommon for colleges to offer an extension for inclimate weather for reference letters…
good luck. Get it postmarked or sent tomorrow.

Assuming we hear back 11th, 24 days to go guys! Who’s nervous+excited+feel his/her life depends on this?

I keep getting excited about Vandy stuff and then realizing I haven’t gotten in yet and then I freak out about not getting in so basically yes

Just curious, how did everyone’s interviews go who finished them already?

Mine went really well! My interviewer was a recent grad who had some similar interests to me so the conversation flowed nicely. He actually spent more time selling the school to me (though he did say some possible negatives) than asking me questions. Overall it was a great experience.

20 days to go!! :((

CC’s emojis are the worst ones on internet

@collegebobollege do you mind elaborating on “possible negatives”?

@723megs just the dominance of Greek life, difficulty of registering, and general pressure to be social all the time. He liked it, but he said “it’s not for everyone”

I have a problem on one of my Ingram Scholarship essays. The topic is “describe my two most meaningful community service activities and my role in them.”
I already wrote fairly extensively about my most meaningful service activity in my common app essay. What should I do? Should I just write about something else?

@SoBobolicious I think you should write on something else. The scholarship committee also review the main application so it would seem as though you just copied and pasted your common app essay.

@SoBobolicious I disagree. I think you should write about it - but it should be a different angle than in your Common App. The common app essay is about who you are, this one should be more about your commitment to service

@SoBobolicious
From the Ingram Scholarship website: “Be advised the Ingram Scholarship Program does not read applicants’ Common Apps or supplemental admissions materials as a part of the evaluation process.”

@SoBobolicious oops my bad. I never knew they don’t read Common app essays. Good Luck!

16 days guys!
