Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

According to Vanderbilt’s admissions blog and an admissions counselor:

I’m a parent of a prospective Vanderbilt transfer applicant. I just read somewhere online that Vanderbilt was eliminating 600 dorm rooms and that this would significantly impact the transfer acceptance rate. Is there truth to this rumor please?

Thanks for your question. We actually intend to enroll approximately 210 new transfer students this fall, which is slightly more than in the past two years.

210? that’s less than the 366 they admitted last year. Maybe he means 210 more than the 360?

366* I meant

I think he means that they plan on having 210 enroll out of however many they admitted, assuming not all admitted applicants will enroll at Vanderbilt?

Ooo I see. I wish we knew what percentage of transfers that end up enrolling…

Ugh I know right?! I tried googling the Facebook page of last years transfer class to see. But then again some may not even have Facebook.

As you can tell, I’m looking WAAAAY too much into this.

According to CollegeBoard.org, 362 transfers were admitted and 195 chose to enroll.

sounds like the admittance rate will still decrease by a lot

Probably a good thing I’m not applying… I doubt I’d get in.

Shawshank I had to go to three different offices to get my form filled out. Pain. Now I’m just waiting for my transcript.

Newtocollege, it appears I will be doing the same. I found out today that I am supposed to give it to my advisor to fill out the academic portion. Then I bring it to the Dean of Students to fill out the disciplinary portion. Then I am supposed to have my transcripts mailed separately because a completely different office is in charge of handling official transcripts. This whole process is a headache…

So financial aid/CSS is due today and of course the financial aid office telephone line is busy/not ringing…sigh.

CSS was a major pain to fill out. I went ahead and submitted my app last night. No use in dwelling over essays for another two weeks

I see that Vandy requires the Secondary School Report. It is going to feel kind of weird making a trip to my high school to drop it off. I haven’t been there since graduation.

don’t think you have to…just hs transcripts…my regional transfer adviser said its not required

Ohhhh, well I might just have it sent anyway. Two other schools to which I am applying have it listed as a requirement, so I will be going to my high school anyway.

Currently in the middle of having a panic attack whilst filling out this CSS profile.

Jk, not really but I didn’t realize this thing was SOOOO long.

Just finished with ten minutes to spare…whew!

Making myself submit my application this week - finally

Does anyone know if it matters whether we send hard copies or electronic copies of our official transcripts (from both high school and college)?

Didn’t know it was possible to send electronic copies of a transcript…interesting.
