I’m thinkin they might start sending them out this week since they started reviewing them this past week.

Funny story about my Vanderbilt transfer acceptance letter. I wrote the wrong mailing address on my Common Application. I noticed my mistake at the end of April and E-mailed my admissions counselor to have the change rectified. A copy of the acceptance letter was sent and was dated April 20. Had I been even 3 days later in noticing, I would have ended up back at my old no-name college and been depressed for the rest of my life there.

The letter was delivered in a large, white packet which looked very plain, so I thought a rejection was in there. A small, normal letter envelope seems to be a rejection.

did they send it to your college address or your home?

Sometransfer, I think your post made my anxiety levels skyrocket.

Thanks for your post. I think we all better check to make sure we typed our addresses correctly on both the Common App and the Vanderbilt Supplement.

Didn’t you all get a Vandy booklet in the mail a couple/few weeks ago? If you did, that’s the address Vandy is going to mail to. For me, it was my Dad’s house. Please lets not now all speculate on whether receiving that booklet means anything. It was just a general “isn’t Vandy great?” kind of booklet. You know what I mean? Like the thing they give you when you visit. (And, yes, Vandy IS great!)

Good point! I got that booklet too, so obviously that means my mailing address was typed correctly. I did not even think about that…

I didn’t get the Vandy booklet…is it because I submitted my app on the 15th?

i didnt get it either… i only put one address down on my app also… maybe this is a sign

Have you guys visited the school? Maybe they sent those to students who have applied, but aren’t on record as taking an official tour?

Visited. It means nothing.

**** now im worried

I was afraid of that… Check with your parents. Maybe they threw it out. Honestly it means nothing. I just used it as an example for mailing address.

checked with them… they said they definitely would have noticed if anything came… was it a very distinctive booklet? Or was it something that could easily be tossed out in the trash without noticing?

this is a better indicator… was it specifically addressed to you (looking official), or was it more like a automated message type of address with a barcode?

specifically addressed to you from the college admissions, looking official*

I got a booklet a while ago. It was a generic looking booklet with pictures of Vandy on the outside, fluff and statistics on the inside. If I remember correctly it was an automatically generated address, and not like an address printed off on a label. I’ve never taken an official visit either.

I really don’t think it means anything. I’ve also received a postcard in the mail from the admissions office. Nothing special, but this also had the automated address on it. Except I got this before Thanksgiving, only because I inquired about admissions very early. Don’t think it means too much.

Unlike Newtocollege, I did not visit the school. Also, I agree with Newtocollege that the booklet most likely does not mean anything. It contains my name and address as well as a barcode. I turned in my Application early, so that may be why I received it and you have not.

the packet doesn’t mean anything because they had not looked at your application when they sent it… I’m sure they just mail them to people who had gotten their app complete email a while ago
