Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2013 Transfer Thread

Thanks, Newtocollege and eric2dea.
The acceptance came in a normal, plain-looking priority mail envelope. I could not find a postmark date on the envelope, but the letter was dated May 13, 2013.

Congrats, shawshank!

I’m a bit concerned. I’ve called multiple counselors and a good majority seem to be on vacation or out of office for the summer. My question is, who is reviewing our applications and making decisions?! Since we are arguably in the last batch, do our decisions receive less attention?

Just called mine. She went on business TODAY…ugh. If only I thought of calling yesterday. Maybe we are on some kind of line waiting to be accepted since they haven’t rejected us…people like shawshank are getting acceptance letters more than a week after the decision was actually made. Just a thought.

I was able to get ahold of a counselor earlier who told me a decision still hasn’t been made. This is really starting to bother me, because Vandy is hands down my number one choice. I got accepted to my back up school, and they need a non refundable deposit… And there is no way I’m going back to my old university.

Talked to my counselor Monday and he said it had been sent, but my decision has been in since the 14th. I am really annoyed with how they are handling this last batch.

Wait listed. Got my letter today, dated May 20th.

Ahh, being wait listed is making me so antsy. Congrats shawshank! Let us know if you decide to attend! Eric2dea – I wonder why you haven’t received anything?? I’m sure it’s it’ll be any day now.

Any other wait-listers out there?

This really sucks. BUT it’s not a rejection…have to keep telling myself that.

Yeah! What are your stats?

aw, sorry Anontransfer. Write a kick ass letter of continued interest, and good luck!

Well, still nothing. Is there ANYONE still waiting, just so I know that I am not alone?

Wait-list here as well. I got my letter around the beginning of the month. Sent in a letter and my spring grades, hopefully I’ll hear back soon because I’m about to commit to USC where I was accepted.

I have not posted primarily because I am a parent with a son who is applying to transfer and I see this as primarily for students. He is from California and has not heard a decision from Vanderbilt yet. To pass the time I scoured this thread to build some stats - hardly scientific and I’m sure I missed something. But, I counted 93 screen names that said they were applying to transfer. Of those 37 have said they were accepted, 7 waitlisted, and 2 rejected. There are another 49 that have not posted anything. I don’t think that we can draw any big conclusions other than to say that this is probably not a representative sample - I don’t think the transfer acceptance rate is 40%. But, I also suspect that people who post here are more driven in terms of their desire to go to Vandy. I do think my son is a long shot. He went to a very strong boarding school where grades are hard to get, managed to have a brain fart in his junior year, and barely got a 3.0 (which is very respectable at the school). He went to a mega state university and had done well with a 3.7 GPA. And, he had 2300 SAT scores. He would love to go to Vanderbilt. He got his stuff in on time but the school was late. He got his application complete email on 4/12. About a week ago he heard from the counselor that his application has been reviewed (I assume by her) and it would next go before the committee. And, she acknowledged that they are generally sent out weekly. The good news is that she was confirming that they are not done.

I’m also waiting in california. Anyone from california get a decision yet?

I am waiting in AK. Anyone else?

accepted today by phone! I never get my decision letter so I called my counselor today asking for my decision. My decision was made on May 13th. Submitted application 3 hours before deadline and got the app complete email on April 1st. Good luck for the rest of you!

Just got waitlisted today. Maybe I am the last one receiving an admission letter? anyways I still want to wait for Vandy… …

Nope allisonnian, you are most definitely not the last one receiving a letter :(. But didn’t you say you were in NY? I’m just asking because perhaps we have the same admissions counselor and this could have something to do with the time we receive our letter. I wasn’t counting on getting a decision in the mailbox tomorrow, but now that I’m reading this I’m still going to be nervous opening it.

Edit: Also, the last couple of late decisions were all waitlists…perhaps I should expect one as well.

@eric2dea
Yes, I go to college in NY, and just back home in AK (I was probably assigned in AK area based on high school location). The WL letter was dated 20th, so I am sure you will receive an admission letter very soon. Good luck!!! Dont lose hope until the last second. You can c there are still many acceptance in the last batch :)

Waitlisted but I don’t care! I’m going to Johns Hopkins or Berkeley!
