Official Vanderbilt University Fall 2014 Transfer Thread

Yea I got in last week, I just saw the post and thought it was funny

@abcd44 out of curiosity, what made you want to transfer? I’m sure our reasons probably overlap (if we’re applying from a small, rural NESCAC school to a larger, urban school like Vandy).

And congrats!

haha thank you, and yea I’m sure they do-my situation was a little different but I’m from a major city and i love the NESCAC I’m at but its really small and I want something a little bigger with a greek system and stuff lik that, there r a lot of pretty cool things about the 'cac though

@Juvenis or @abcd44 Can either of you enlighten us on how long you were given to decide? Or is this like a case by case thing?

@abcd44‌ congrats! What are your stats?

on the thing it says until April 19th

and my stats were pretty much the same as everyone else’s, my gpa was only a 3.1 but there was a reason and I explained it pretty well

@abcd44 Congratulations! You give the rest of us hope. Heheh

Gonna ask you all out there about a question I have. I had to withdraw from chem lab last semester and it was after the add drop date so it showed up on my transcript (but didn’t hurt my GPA). I have a legit reason. The short version being that I live in Colorado and my city got flooded and for several days of class I was stranded on the south half of my town at my house and was actually unable to drive north to school (they closed every north-south road). Then I was evacuated from my home by the fire department and so because of all this business there were like maybe 3 or 4 days of class where I couldn’t actually go. I wasn’t able to turn in the work on those days (physically unable to be at school) and my TA told me that was too bad and I wasn’t going to be able to turn it in. Basically without that work (we had very few things we were going to turn in that semester) I would have to get almost 100% on everything including the final in order to pull a 70% in the class. I knew this was unrealistic, so I dropped. Should I write Vandy and explain that or is it something that is better left alone?

Sorry this is so long. Thanks!

One of my parents recently started working at Vanderbilt, so i thought I’d give it a shot and apply. My stats are not very good (3.0 gpa at current community college) and downhill in previous years. Even though I’m 99% sure I won’t get in, I keep checking the MyApp thing every day in hope of that 1% chance. If people are getting admission offers already, it makes me think the next decisions released will be waitlist or denied. Can you even get waitlisted as a Transfer student?
Also, is anyone trying to transfer with more than 60 credits? Do you get to chose what does and doesn’t get transferred?

@jfcampos I was given 2 weeks.

@Yazzerrr‌ Yeah, you can be waitlisted as a transfer. I don’t necessarily think that the next people to receive notifications will be all waitlists or denies, considering that the priority deadline hasn’t even passed yet and there are sure to be people who apply beforehand that will get acceptances. Keep your chin up!

Hi everybody. I’m new to this thread and I’ve been so nervous after knowing the decisions are being sent out. I’m an international student but currently studying at an US university as sophomore. Will the decisions be sent out later for international students?

@ZYRafael‌, I don’t believe so. I think your decision is dependent on a number of things such as the school you applied to, application complete date, etc., but I don’t think your citizenship status is a factor.

What are your stats?

@CaptTShannan‌. I applied to College of Arts and Sciences as a neuroscience major and my material was all received around March 5th.

Stat:
College GPA: 3.88 (Umich, honors program)
SAT: 2250
High school GPA: my high school is not in the US so we don’t use GPA. But my average is like 93/100 and is top 10%.

EC:
I did biomedical research from freshman year with a professor who wrote me a letter. Volunteered at UM hospital. Executive board member of a non-profit student organization for rural China education. And a co-founder of a cultural exchange program with Tibet.

Should I assume I’m not hearing back this week if my counselor is out of the office this week and MyAppVU said complete on March 29?

@BB37240‌ Um, probably. But not necessarily. Some people submitted their app on the 15th of March and found out last week, so you could find out. But yours might be next week instead of this one.

Guys, IM SO NERVOUS!

@CaptTShannan It’s all I’ve been thinking about! I’m so so nervous too.

I don’t hear from my other too choice until the end of may so I really want to hear from vandy
