[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): top 10%
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): US History (4), Bio (4), Euro (4), all of my teachers were awful and we didn’t finish half the curriculum so they were all mostly self study
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): not at my school
[] Senior Year Course Load: AP US Gov, AP English, AP Calc, Theo IV, and Duel Enrollment at a University on a scholarship (Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, College Spanish, and Modern European Literature) – hardest courseload possible
[li] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.): I never knew such things existed until I came to CC, but I received a scholarship for free classes at a selective university nearby, in my area it is prestigious
[/li]

[/ul][ b]Subjective:[list]
[] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Mock Trial (captain 2 years, co-captain one year), TV Studio (senior crew member), Varsity Tennis, NHS, Community Service Corps, Peer Leaders, tutor. Most of these were appointed

[] Summer Activities: family duties, baby sitting, summer Pre-Calc course. The family obligations took me away from doing any sort of college summer activity

[] Additional Rec: from a college professor, never saw it, but he really liked me
[li] Interview: none
[/li]

[ b]Reflection**
[] Strengths: my story
[] Weaknesses: my SAT :frowning:
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: my unique story
[] Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: LaSalle U, Loyola Maryland

Waiting for Penn, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Columbia, Georgetown (deferred), Boston U, George Wash, American U, Northeastern, Fordham, NYU

General Comments: It feels so good to get in somewhere I’d like to attend!!! but I probably won’t get enough financial aid and won’t go :(

Accepted!!!

GPA: 3.78 uw
SAT I: 1940
SAT II: US history: 720

wait listed applicants: offered , accepted , admitted last 5 years

2008 5430 , 2771 , 166
2009 3557 , 1922 , 82
2010 5054 , 2420 , 494
2011 4950 , 2272 , 152
2012 5063 , 2232 , 440

I don’t believe Villanova admissions is engaged in “gaming” a yield rate.

I believe they are engaged in enrollment management with a plan to enroll about 100 students a year off the wait list , while trying to avoid over enrollment.
Enrollment management is a moving target with increasing applicants yearly and stronger credentials yearly. The number of schools applied per applicant and financial aid needs also makes enrolling 1650 students out of 15,000 a challenge.
I do know that Villanova does not want to admit 400-500 students from the wait list.

If “Tufts Syndrome” is part of the decision process , this would be the first year I have heard of it and I have been a close observer of admission statistics ans campus life since 2008.
Doesn’t mean that it did not occur this year , anecdotal evidence does exist on this thread.

Accepted to the school of nursing!! I was originally deferred from EA but I was extremely excited when I got accepted. Good luck to all those who are waitlisted!!

@paba59

What did you choose? Was in the same dilemma and chose Nova as its b school is ranked higher and they gave me lots of $. Lehighs business school seemed to be second behind engineering and they provided no FA.

BTW To all of you trolls who claim that its BS that they were waitlisted at Nova bc they were “overqualified” need to ****. A 2000 SAT score and 91 GPA is not overqualified and in addition, Villanova’s business school is consistently ranked in the 20 UBSs in the nation while Villanova engineering is currently ranked #10. It is no mystery that earning a spot in Villanova’s Class of 2017 is so difficult, as having a seat in the schools of engineering, business and nursing will virtually guarantee a job paying 55K + when you graduate…

My son has just completed his freshman year at Villanova University and we received his financial aid award by email this week. His award is $18,000 less then last year. Our AGI has only increased by $4,000 and tuition had a 4% increase from last year… I am posting this because if financial aid is a necessity to attend Villanova, please reconsider. I doubt he will be able to continue at Villanova and I can’t help but feel we wasted close to $40,000 last year for him to attend. Academic standing is good, no other influx of money, circumstances have remained the same. I specifically asked Villanova prior to son enrolling if the aid would remain consistent for four years and was told yes. Son gave up other partial 4 year scholarships for more money, to attend Villanova. I will be meeting with the Financial Aid department on Monday and will post the results.
